  when my son got old enough to start getting serious about girls, I gave him a list of what he was to look for in the girl he would marry.

  1. Don't marry a stupid person who will embarrass you every time she opens her mouth

  2. Don't marry someone who does not share your love of animals

  3. do not marry someone who does not appreciate what your interests are. She does not have to share them, just appreciate them (music, for example)

  4.Do not marry someone who will not let me make the wedding dress.

  Race was not on the list. There should have been something about her mother on the list, though.

  When he proposed, he told her that his mother was making the wedding dress, and I did.

  Are Parents Who Shun Their Children At Risk?

  who looks after the welfare of ageing witness parents who have disfellowshipped children?

  are these df'd children (actually, some of these df'd children are in their 60's) meant to ignore being ignored and then care physically for their non speaking parents?

  also, can df'ing your own children lead to witness parents suffering illness or even death as a result?.

  Several years ago while I was still a JW, a friend, who considered herself "annointed", said to her son about his older brothers who had left the borg that "in the new system, she would not even remember them". One by one all four of her children left. Her husband divorced her and she is alone, looking forward to not remembering any of them. The borg trains them to be cold hearted and then they pay the price when the new system does not come and no one cares about them. Until their dying day, they are right. The borg says so.

  when my sister-in-law was dying of cancer, she was at home, no operating room bright lights or anything. Just before she died, she sat upright in bed and looking around the room and said "Its beautiful!" She was obviously seeing something the rest of us were not.

  Of course we will never know for sure until we see it, or not, ourselves. I have no burning desire to find out just yet.

  since i was a believer from the earliest of my memories, i spent my formative academic years not thinking or caring much about my future.

  although 1975 (armageddon / the end of the world / jehovah's judgment) was still a year away, as a naive, dumbass teenager it was looming very large on my radar screen.

  besides *that*, my best jw buddy got baptized in february of that year.

  Let me clarify for you.

  Why did Jews not celebrate Christmas? Because they did not accept Jesus as the Messiah. So if Jesus did not celebrate Christmas BECAUSE he was a Jew, then that meant he did not accept himself as the Messiah. So now do you see why my mother's reasoning made no sense? Of course, when Jesus was on earth no one was celebrating Christmas yet anyhow.

  There are people with an Archie Bunker mentality who really do not realize they are racist. My mother was one. When I told her so, she said she was not, that she always felt sorry for the little black kids she saw because it was not their fault they were black. Her comments often left me speechless. She really did think like Archie Bunker. She said once that Jesus did not celebrate Christmas because he was a Jew and we know Jews do not celebrate Christmas. You can't reason with some one whose mind works that way.

  Being stalked.....

  i need some unbiased advice.it is so hard to know just what to do.

  this is the situation.

  on father's day my son and his wife and two little boys came over for the morning.

  Nathan:

  My son installed a full security system along with a few extras. They had some problems a few times for a couple of nights with an alarm that he had placed outside the kids bedroom window going off at 1:30 in the morning. At first he figured it was some critter setting it off but it was at the same time each night. That looked like someone was trying to get him to come outside to check and he would not do it.

  He did purchase a gun and made sure his wife knew how to use it. So far nothing more has happened. They have the house for sale now, not because of what had been happening but because they need a much bigger house with the business they run from home. The area they are moving to is no where near where they live now.

  They also padlock the gates to the back yard now. I think the men know that we know who they are. The one lives right around the corner and when I go over there to work for the family business I always detour around the block to go by his house real slow. I want him to know we are watching him. I want him to know that we know who he is.

  Hopefully, nothing more will happen before they can move out of there. I never let down my guard and I remind them of that also. I told my daughter-in-law that she has to be very careful about real estate agents. Any one can call up and claim to be an agent and ask to show the house to a so-called client.

  I suppose if I were still a JW I could leave it in Jehovah's hands. after all, he protects his people. LOL
