Are we losing members quicker than the WT ??

reading a thread from just a few months ago, made me realise that a lot of people who used to be regular contributors here no longer do so.. i know that people have always moved on, as the anger and hurt get less, as the wt mind-set totally disappears, we feel the need to come here less and less, but because of the intelligence, insight, wit and wisdom of these people, the board is somewhat impoverished each time one of these moves on.. this is a plea to all who post now, and some who still read but don't post, please do not leave us entirely, the contributions on here are literally life-saving for many.

it is easy to get dangerously suicidal when the whole wt pack of cards falls down for you.. please do not become a stranger to us !.

I don't post anywhere near as much as what I used to. But it's not because someone has pissed me off or I find the board boring. It's just that sometimes you get busy in life, or sometimes you just need a break. I know other 'old timers' who rarely, if ever, post on here anymore, and it's just because they've moved on.......Unclebruce, Gumby, Delilah, KW13, Luna, Littletoe, Bumblebee, Dr. Jekyll, Buttlight, Funky Derek, Old Flame.....How many on here know who these posters even are? There's a ton of new ones that weren't on here 5 or 6 years ago.....that's just the nature of things.

I do, Mary. And zena and windchaser and jim tex, etc. But I'm friends with them on facebook so we keep in touch. There's an EX-JW page there too.

But LOISLANE'S post reminded me why I stayed so long here. It's how I felt when I found this place. I don't post often but I read sometimes. I was here last week and the political threads gave me a headache so I promised myself I'd stay away from that forum.

Anyway...welcome LOIS and keep reading...the more you read, the more you know. The more you know, the more courage you gain. That courage allows you to overcome the brainwashing. Believe me...as one 'born-in'...I know.

Watchtower's Billion Dollars of Property Cannot Be Sold until Outcome of Conti Appeal

30 minutes ago i just got off the phone with some important players in this case, and some things were relayed to me concerning a lot of details of the outcome of the last two days of court.

i am passing this on.

cynthia hampton, one of the main players in the candace conti case (and a close friend of 28 years), just informed me of a further, far more powerful move by the state of california against the watch tower bible and tract society of new york, inc.. by order of the superior court of the state of california - county of alameda (see documents below), until the watch tower's appeal, which won't begin until august 13th and will take up to two years to settle due to due process of law, has forbidden the watch tower to sell any more of its $1 billion in assets in the borough of brooklyn until the appeals case is finished, to assure they won't shelter their monies in the light of this most huge and devastating sexual abuse scandal ever to hit the watch tower society, and perhaps any other single-victim lawsuit.

I see a huge push for 'donations' at every meeting. Probably under the guise of some other need. Maybe even a new WT article about the evil media and Internet. Although this scandal will open many eyes, many more will close even tighter.

They just mentioned Jehovah's Witnesses as fastest growing denomination on ABC World News

was watching abc world news and they showed the religions/denominations with most increase and those that are experiencing decreases.. the j.w.

's was number 1 on increase while most of the larger main stream churches where losing members.. they have already posted a link on the news website...will post it in just a few..

we have many interesting debates and discussions on this board between members on both sides of the god/nogod divide.. most of us seem to be quite reasonable, and accept and respect differing points of views.. others, a small minority here, dismiss the opposite side as deluded or evil.

it strikes me that it takes a large amount of mental certainty to do this.. we all have reaped the fruits of such certainty in these matters during our sojourn in the jehovah's witnesses.. this essayist, neuroscientist and fiction writer david eagleman, takes a different view.

as you know, i am a believer in god.

Very good article. I believe that anyone who claims to be 'certain' about anything in this universe displays a special kind of arrogance that I cannot fathom. And like the article states, I don't blindly believe 'anything goes' and follow any new-age or scientific theory I stumble upon, but I DO know that there are more mysteries and unknowns than we will ever be able to understand, even after we are dead.

However, I prefer agnostic to possibilian.
