Thanks, Essie, for posting the article. Sorry I haven't really responded since I posted some of what I went through. I remembered a little more than I wanted to. Had to get away from it for a while.

Some battered women may need to seek assistance from authorities.

I know this sentence has been mentioned more than once, but it still makes me ill. ALL battered women need to call 911, have him arrested, and while he's sitting in a jail cell, maybe then he'll see the "error of his ways", and start attending meetings!!![8>]

The article "Dreaming" was enough to make me want to bring up my lunch. Please tell me what is the big deal when men sweep and wash dishes? It's not a big deal when women do it. And right, this wife beater goes to a brother's house, sees him washing dishes. Goes to the KH and sees men sweeping the floor and VOILA!!!...he decides to stop beating his wife?????

And it kills me when they try to use everything as an example of Biblical prophecy.

The Bible long ago fortold that during the "last days" of this system of things, many would be abusive, with no natural affection, and fierce. (2 Timothy 3:1-3, The New English Bible)
The prevalence of spouse abuse is simply another indication that we are living in the very time period designated by this prophecy.

Abuse of women has been going on for thousands of years. I guess the fact that the WTS is only addressing it NOW, makes it fulfilling.

The real clincher, though, is that I know from first-hand experience, like Dana said, that it's all lip service. What they write and how they act behind KH walls are totally different. All they are doing now is covering their collective asses!

Battered Lambs Webpage (new)

after reviewing the society's vapid interest in helping battered women and seeing the many sad stories posted as a result of the article, i have a new addition to the silentlambs website.. a new webpage for battered lambs.. this will be accessed off the victims page with a clickable link.

there you will be able to read the stories of those who have suffered physical abuse at the hands of wt policy.

all stories will be posted anonymously of course and there will also be a second poems and thoughts page dedicated to victims of physical abuse.

Bill, I would be glad to add my story. There is so much more to add. I think someone else asked...how long can it be? I think this is a very urgent subject that needs to be brought out into the open. The archaic treatment of women ANYWHERE has to stop.

i just received a phone call from the mom of one of my daughter's friend's.. 7th grade little girl, just delightful.. we saw her dad tuesday night at 'back to school night.'.

he killed himself yesterday.. lisa.

edited to add, i just talked to the girl's mom again and she told me they went to the doctor together yesterday, i guess he's been having some chronic health problems for the last ten years.. the doctor pooh-poohed his concerns.

the hundreds of accounts given by victims explaining the foundation of why watchtower policy hurts children.

the lawsuits now being enacted to make watchtower compensate those injured by their policy.

Wendy, do you see how even though this man was convicted (although surely didn't get enough time)and proven to be guilty, the congregation still treated him like he did nothing wrong? The double standard makes me sick.

Blue, it tore me up inside to read your story. We talked about spousal rape on the other thread Mr. Moe posted above. My husband thought it was his right. But, being forced and sodomized against your will, makes me ill. I'm so happy you have a good relationship now. Tragically it does often happen that the women who endure this repeat the same pattern for years.

I think this policy needs to be addressed just like the molestation of children.
