The BESTEST present ever! (NOT)

after reading a few threads regarding the upcoming christmas season, i thought i'd post a funny story, and ask you to add to it.. if you've ever received a wacky present, or one you had to pretend that you liked, please post it.. about 5 years ago, when i first started celebrating christmas with hubby, i got a real shocker of a present.

a deep fryer.. now, hubby was *very* proud of himself.

you see, about three months prior to christmas we were going through costco (warehouse type store) when i noticed they had a nice little deep fryer.

Okay, I think I have everyone beat when it comes to thoughtless gifts!
My ex-fiance, who I was with for 3 years, meets me at the front door after work. Tells me he has the best Xmas gift for me ever!!

I'm all excited. Butterflies in my stomach. He makes me close my eyes and leads me up the stairs. The suspense builds! My mind has images of all sorts of wonderful things! I mean, he's acting like it's the most spectacular thing he's ever done. He keeps saying, "Now, don't you dare open your eyes! You'll spoil everything!"

I let him lead me upstairs. I'm sooooo excited. I walk through the dining room, into the living room. He has my eyes covered still. He then says....."SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!".......

I open my eyes.....he turns me toward the entertainment center.....and there sits.....BIG as DAY!!!!!................

One of those HUGE speakers you put in the trunk of your car and blast everyone off of the expressway with! All hooked up to my wonderful Sony stereo system. Ready to blow out my speakers! You know...the kind the cops pull you over for? It's funny now! LOL
But, it damn sure wasn't then!

Guess that's why he's my EX!!!!!!! LOL

Oh, man, Lisa, do the race comments bring back memories!!! My ex was black and all my children are different colors. No one is the same. I remember getting comments from my ex's mom--"Oh, I'm sure he'll get darker!" Which he didn't!!! And from my mom--"Why is he so dark??"

And other comments, like, "Why is his hair straight and his curly??"
Who gives a rat's ass??? They all had 10 fingers-10 toes-perfect in every way! That's all I ever cared about. The first question I asked the doctors when they were born was--"Are they okay? Are they healthy?" Not--"What color are they?"

I just laugh at people now who ask if I adopted![8>]

Well, we named him Julius, hoping he would turn orange.

I just feel like I do not really fit in with mainstream thinking on many issues and that I go in and out of being introverted and extroverted.
I also feel very vulnerable about expressing my thoughts and emotions and will often go back and delete/edit stuff I write (much to the chagrin of some people).

I always read your posts and am one of those who is very disappointed when you delete what you wrote. I so look forward to your poetry and experiences, whatever forum you decide to post in.

As to the first part of your quote, I feel the same most of the time. I don't fit in with mainstream thinking on much of anything!! I knew this about you without your explanation. And I hope in the future you won't delete your writing. None of what you wrote has ever seemed silly to me. Please don't stop....

Tatiana is my only daughter's name. It came from a book I was reading while pregnant. It was called "Fantastic Universe Omnibus." Copyright 1960. A compilation of science fiction stories. Her name came from the story by William Tenn, "She Only Goes Out At Night." She was a vampire named Tatiana. ( I have to say that her first name, Glory, came from a scripture in Thessalonians..'you are our glory and our joy') Funny that my anointed uncle gave me this book, which I still have.

My real name is April. I use it on other boards as well.

I would REALLY like to know the story behind msil's name! Also slipandslide's.....and why he doesn't like red hair!

whats the funniest names you've come across at the kingdom hall?.

once i went to a hall were it was anonced that the seal's were away on holiday .in the closing prayer they prayed for brother pig.. i thought we were in a zoo.

We had Brother and Sister Love, who bickered all the time! So did their "Love" children.

I had a crush on a young brother named "Neptune" Gaither. One of the elders who I really didn't care for was named "Crump". When we were younger we called him "Crump the chump"!

Their was a family named "Posie". One of the daughter's was named Rosie. Not Rose...Rosie.

That's all I can think of right now...but give me time!
