I just wanted to thank everyone. I used to study with a JW and I would come to this site (against her wishes) and ask dumb questions, and you would answer and give me something to think about. I was sure the lady I was studying with was my friend and out to help me. But as soon as I pulled away a little and cut down my study sessions she became angry and now won't even talk to me. You were all right a true friend would never do that to you, or try to change you. I thank you all sooooooooo much you gave me another side to see, without pushing your opinions on me. You gave me the strength to continue to be my own person it's funny how some people can suck the life right out of you without you even realizing it. You all made me see that I was no longer being myself, that most of all I was afraid to be myself, and that is not a good thing :) so thank you all, now my biggest concern is what to do with all the books they gave me!!!

My Encounter with a Witness
by Unclepenn1 inwell, the other night i had invited a young man to my house to share with him, respectfully, the false prophecies of the wt, using older wt books.
the conversation started very nicely, with the usual small talk and such.
i decided to ask some questions, that i knew the answers to, but just wanted to get the gears in his head turning.

you are all right. A friendship shouldn't cause me to be afraid to do something wrong. i don't know if she would continue to be my friend but I guess if she didn't then she wouldn't have been a true friend in the first place. I guess I just see her and her family and am jelous and for the first time I feel apart of that, even if it is soley on the surface. Would i still study if it wasn't for her? I don't know I'm still in the gaining knowledge stage and since i have no real prior bible knowledge I really don't have anything to compare their teachings to. until of course I found this board and some other sites so I am gaining information that seems to conflict. And sometimes the lady I study with confuses me I don't get the whole great tribulation where those who aren't in the truth die but then if they die before the great tribulation everyone is resurected. Seems to me it would be better to die now then later. And the 144,000 people how do they decide who they are seems like anyone could just say they were annointed. Those are just some of the things but I am still learning.
The elders are scary though. They seem very very VERY unapproachable. Seems like if they said jump everyone would say how high. i guess i only really like the studying but I've checked into another study class that is not JW affiliated. So that should be good. Thanks again for all the posts. -

The study lady I have always goes to second hand stores though for clothes, but i will have to ask her about the smurfs and other things. I thank you for showing me those sites I never noticed the links at the bottom of the page before, I can see it will be a late night for me now there is so much information.
i guess i still ask questions and hang out here because i don't know what to do. i have never had a family and the lady i study with has taken me in. it is the weirdest sense of guilt, I don't want to disappoint her. And anytime I begin to distance myself she sucks me back in. i can't even explain how she does it. it is obvious they want me to change my appearance there are suggestions made about dying my hair but no one really comes straight out and says it. it's more like "hey you would look good as a blonde, Whats your natural color, i think the dye is damaging your hair" so they don't just say change or we will never fully accept you. or with the tats they don't tell me not to show them, but just make it so i feel I should. Then outside the KH the study lady is sooo nice making me dinner inviting me over, helping me when my car is broken down, telling me I'm like one of her daughters now. it Sucks!!!! i feel torn straight in two. it's weird how you can sense something is wrong see facts and everything but somehow still convince yourself it could be true. I guess i'm just weak. -

You do not have to answer my questions nor post remarks accusing me of being a troll. I was unaware that there was a limit to the number of questions that one can ask here. I thought this board was to help people. I guess not. I am so disappointed right now. I guess it's easy to accuse everyone of being a troll. Once she picked her mouth up from the floor she didn't say to much. she just said you read that in an extremely surprised raised eyebrow way. Then she asked me about what it said, and about the rituals. It all started when we were going over the Knowledge chapter on Spiritism. Gotta love that Knowledge book -

She said something about demons being able to use the book to get to me. How would that happen? Then how do you determine what to get rid of, I have a pretty hardcore Guns n Roses poster can satan use that? Is there a list of things you can and can't have? -

I guess I am self centered the first thing I thought was I hope my cousin is ok. It's human nature to think first of the people whom we know or have an affiliation with. luckily she was on vacation leave. I went to the JW meeting on Tuesday and we prayed for all the families not just the JW's.
