My wife was informed today (Thursday) that her circuit assembly in Janesville, Wisconsin scheduled for March 14th, was cancelled. There has not been a lot of COVID-19 in the area.

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

Even as a non-JW, I've noticed a drop in attendance. I drop my JW wife off at meetings and have seen the number of cars in the lot go down over time. I would estimate the number is about 2/3 of what it used to be. The KH now houses four congregations. A nearby KH was closed this year and the single congregation was relocated here. The relocated congregation has their Sunday meeting on Saturday morning. Meeting times for 2020 will rotate next week. My wife's goes to 3:30 pm. Ugh.
To be fair, it's happening in other denominations as well. At my Christmas evening service, there were plenty of seats available. It used to be packed and overflow seating was needed.
Somebody used to always park in the stall furthest from the KH building even though they could have parked much closer. Being a wise guy, I asked my wife if that was disfellowshipped parking.

More fear-mongering in Nov. 2019 WT
by neat blue dog infirst of all, there's a new imaginary picture of jws during the great tribulation:.
then there's a picture of a jw family refusing to listen to "apostate lies" via pre-programed, self imposed information control:.
the description says:.

Around here that unfinished attic would be rather toasty in the summer and frigid in the winter. Just where are they supposed to go to the bathroom while up there?

What is the longest distance you drove to attend a summer Convention?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inhere is a photo of the milwaukee brewers ( american baseball team) county stadium.
for some reason, we were assigned this outdoor stadium for our 1975 four-day summer convention.
our congregation was located 90 miles away on the north side of chicago.. some congregation members stayed at milwaukee hotels for the four-day convention.

In 2014, the in-laws traveled almost 500 miles (7 hours) each way to Kansas City, Missouri. Normally, they travel *only* about 230 miles (3.5 hours) each way to Fargo, North Dakota. My late FIL used to talk about the trip the family made in the 50's to the Yankee Stadium convention. From the Dakotas, that was over 1500 miles (pre-Interstate) highway each way. They camped in canvas tents. It had to be a big culture shock to a very rural rancher.

It could be worse, like spending your Mem-Day holiday weekend at the RC in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

careful,
This KH is located in a midwestern US state. It is situated just outside of town in a rural area. The old KH was the standard windowless brick building with the overhang. From what I heard, there was flooding in the basement, HVAC and some structural issues, big minuses in trying to sell. In the end, the LDC must have decided it was more cost effective to demolish and build new onsite. Anyone else wishing to build new could just buy readily available vacant land without having to deal with demolition. Out there, it's an hour each way to the next town with a KH. -

My relatives' KH was recently replaced. The original was fairly sizable and had a basement. It had been put up for sale but there were no takers. Then the decision was made to demolish it and replace it with this architectural marvel. The interior is 'cozy' with a capacity of about 50.

In our case, I think being DF actually helped. There wasn't anything the local elders could do to stop it. Then she worked to get reinstated and got back in. Best wishes in your situation and hoping things will work out for the best.
