Lol, truth.
the meaning of true love from a man.. by elizabeth rossi, freelance writer .
i hate to say this but most women will go their entire lifetime and never experience the meaning of actual true love.. it's even slightly depressing to think that most people will never understand how powerful this picture actually is; a prime example of how men should be treating their partner with everyday that passes.. we unfortunately live in a generation with men who have no idea what it takes to be a real man.. let me give you a couple examples of a real man ....... a real man asks about your day and genuinely cares about the answer.. a real man respects your boundaries and never forces you to anything you're not ready to do.. he makes time for you, and takes that time to learn and understand who you are as a person.. a real man consistently shows you the definition of effort with every day that passes.. he will call you randomly throughout the day just to check on you and your mental health.. a real man is undeniably committed to you and looks for new ways to fall in love with you with every day that passes.. he makes protecting your heart a number one priority.. a real man never makes permanent decisions based on temporary emotions.. he never confuses you on where you stand in his life.. a real man apologizes when he is wrong and stays true to his character.. he doesn't mind hurting other people's feeling to protect yours.. a real man gives you affection without sexual expectation.. a real man refuses to entertain any women that isn't you.. he has genuine intentions with you from day one and shows you how it truly feels to be a priority rather an option.. a real man will help you heal from the trauma that nobody apologized for.. a real man values you and would never put themselves in a position to lose you.. take my advice and wait for the man that never let's you fall asleep at night questioning your own self worth.. .

Nicolau- Christian men are terrified of strong, independent women, that's why they love this stuff, it just reinforces the Bibles sexist attitudes.
I consider myself Christian, but certainly not "terrified" of strong independent women.
What some may consider the Bible's sexist attitudes others may see it as simply highlighting human nature.
Interestingly, the Bible recommends in the new testament that men not marry. Jesus himself adviced against it. And human nature, imperfect as it is, confirms that wisdom.

You can't get expelled for going to college. Half the congregation I go to is/went to college. However, nobody talks about it so it's perfectly fine.
moving on is the hardest thing anyone has to cope with.. i have officially left the org.
and now it feels my family have been waiting to do this for a long time, officially shunning me, even though they were practically doing this whilst i was still in.. it feels like i've accomplished a victory and at the same time i feel guilty i was tangled up in communication with someone who "hid who they were" claiming to leak information from bethel.
i got the call from the man who i thought i worked with.
There still is a "10 year plan" idiot, it's just not as detailed as Redsetter1 made it to be.
So he blatantly lied. Let him know there's better ways to get attention.
i believe an an elder told someone who's daughter (14 yo) became sexually active with a 26 year old in the neighborhood, that maybe they should get married.
so, they did... with parental consent.
he turned out to be a ex-convict who shot his first wife in the face with a shotgun.
BethSarim- 5 plus decades believing the nonsensical garbage from New York.
Is this your actual experience Sarim? How recently did you leave JW and what was the final determining factor?
I'm 45 and I mentally detached around 2012. It wasn't so much the doctrines, which I had realized by then were going to just keep changing. It came down to, aside from a belief in God, I had nothing in common with the folks. I didn't want to be or live like them.
While I do have some fond memories of being part of JW in the early 90s, that version of JW no longer exists. And truthfully, those memories weren't exclusive to JW, there was a lot happening then outside that definitely influenced me years later.
why does it matter whether or not the end of the world ( (armageddon) is near?
if it was next week, next year, next decade, next century?
what is to be gained by knowing how close or far it is?
TxNVS- Exactly everybody dies. So what difference does it make if they have money & a retirement or not?
From a practical standpoint, you'll be an incredible load to others if you have no money when you reach old age. Of course it would be nice if you died peacefully in your sleep while still healthy and fully functioning.
The problem is that you're going to get old and sick. You're going to need a lot of medical attention. Someone is going to have to eventually help you move around, go to the bathroom, feed you etc...all of this costs money. And if you believe that family will be more than willing to happily take care of all of your needs when you're ancient and sick when you yourself didn't care, that's taking a huge risk.
one of the most quoted and loved passages of the bible has an unexpected textual history.
at matt 21:16 jesus is made to say:.
have you never read, ‘from the mouths of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise for yourself’?”.
Pete- We are saying the same thing.
I don't think so Pete. From what I understood from Kaleb, the allusion to a vampire or demon in the Psalm was incorrect. Rather, the words chosen for it were words that happened to rhyme or phonetically complement it without attempting to insinuate anything beyond what it says.

if a change in the blood policy happens, who will be more upset, jws or former jws?
i suspect the latter.
when the beard thing went down, jw's seem to immediately embrace it, whereas many former jw's have been brooding about it.. did it take away a pet gripe we had?.

As someone who is technically still in, I see JW as being much closer to other religions now. I strongly feel that many members around me do also, especially after the one-two punch of no time keeping and beards.
I don't envy their present confusion, nor losing their sense of being "special" amongst other religions.
On a more personal level, my interests and lifestyle is far removed from the general mainstream anyways. There's nothing about the 'standard' JW lifestyle or any religion that makes me jealous now or presumably ever.
many people say gb will soon dump blood doctrine to appear less fanatical.
others saying it is impossible for them to do that because of legal ramifications.
i think there is a way that could potentially be solution to those problems.
Tonus -Their only recourse is to make it a conscience matter. They may not like that, because it will look like they are trying to weasel out of dealing with the issue directly.
Indeed. Combine this with focusing on the lifesaving aspects of blood transfusions and it's a possibility.
The new rule of being able to speak friendly with expelled people at the KH in my opinion was an even bigger deal, mentally, than the beards and pants thing as there was "technically" scriptures supporting the idea of completely shunning an expelled person, whereas there was nothing on the former.
These little mental blocks could very well be setting up the much bigger ones.
