Tonus-Based on these descriptions and explanations, there is no reason to expect that the afterlife will be pleasant for anyone. We cannot earn heaven.

What is heaven? What is the afterlife? We don't know what these things are...much less begin to assess them as good or bad from a human standpoint. It's true that man tries to understand these things, but they are interpretations at best.

You have no reason to believe that he will treat you in a way that you would define as good, or kind, or merciful. These terms are meaningless when applied to him.

There are plenty of reasons to believe it. Job himself said "will we accept only the good from God?" If it happened as the Bible describes it, since we're going by the Bible, then there's at least a 50/50 chance for "good" in the future.

But even if you were right, that there was zero reason to believe otherwise, what could we do about it? Absolutely nothing.

Anony Mous -remember when the polls had Trump at a 10% chance to win over Hillary. Right now Kamala has it good because she hasn’t been asked a question by the media in 4 weeks.

This refusal to speak to the media this long, even left propaganda media, is so blatantly demonstrative of how dumb the Left believes American people are. Both parties are guilty of gaslighting to various degrees for sure. But this fiasco by Kamala and her team is so laughable.

The silver lining is that there is indeed a very strong possibility that her team has assessed that she herself is in fact too dumb and cringe to be placed before the media, so risky it has the real potential to derail it completely. She hasn't been kept in the basement by Biden's team all this time for nothing after all.

Tonus- Getting rewarded afterwards still doesn't negate his realization that his life could be upended at any moment, no matter how devoted he was to serving god. This is the nature of Jehovah, a being whose nature is unchanging. This is god, forever.

It would seem that it isn't about our own 'complete' satisfaction in our personal life then. You may not feel the same as Job did at the end of this passage, which was "repentant" and "full of years". Repentant because he, the creation, questioned the Creator. The book itself acknowledges that God is ultimately behind job's affliction.

The book confirms that we have as much, or as little, depending on what God sees fit. This message is clear throughout the entire Bible.

Man expects much because he considers himself deserving. But neither of these things are clearly (by biblical accounts and our very own personal experiences) up to us to decide.

Tonus - However... until we get to one of those difficult issues, we seem to have no problem at all comprehending god. We have a clear basis for judging his character and actions as long as they fit into an acceptable moral framework. When his actions fall into a gray area, we decide that he is inscrutable.

I think this is correct. I think we can relate to God up to a certain point...and then it becomes, try as we might, impossible. This happens both spiritually (ie. why doesn't God intervene on behalf of someone suffering?) and physically (how does anything exist?)

His quick temper and willingness to solve problems by killing should make the believer very nervous.

This is also very true. If God exists and we perceive how he can wield the power of life and death at will then we will proceed very carefully.

Ridley made sure he made this possibility of a Creator not being immortal, evident in Prometheus. He wanted to make sure the audience grasped the idea that a Creation might outshine and outlive the Creator.

This is an interesting take on the scene.

What I interpreted from the scene was mankind's pride being cut down. The last scene in Prometheus when the awakened engineer cannot fathom why Weiland would ask such questions of origin (before killing him) underlines this.

David in the scene above essentially humiliates Weiland for believing he had achieved something special, godlike, in manufacturing him (David). So man is reminded from both sides, Creator and creation, that he is very very small and insignificant relative to what exists before and after him.

But if you must (whatever crazy reason for it you may concoct) then everything else the NT recommends would apply.

Of course, Prometheus...one of my all time faves. I think it's a great proposition on who our Creator may have been/is. But even in this wonderful film there was the stated possibility that the engineers had their own Creator. It always goes back to the being at the very start. But I agree it's a wonderful film and 'theory' and it does a decent job, as you stated, in attempting to explain some things.

I never said God doesn’t exist. What I said was;

Is there an All Knowing Benevolent, Omnipotent God? I'd argue that nature of life on Earth and the course of human history makes it impossible to accept, that a "perfect, benevolent, omnipotent, omniscient God, who is ruler of the universe. and originator of all life"……...Actually Exists.

Here, as nicolaou does, we are going by our own comprehension of what these things are or aren't. We assume these concepts (perfection, omnipotence, omniscience) are concepts we ACTUALLY understand when we are simply flesh and blood that eventually dies. Even the concept of benevolence and love are subjective. For example, in this world (despite all the 'bad' you listed), there is also plenty of 'good' that man has not interfered with or created himself.
