  Why So Many JWs Are Sick ( and What to Do About it)

  i'm not a medical professional - but i feel very strongly about this issue and want to pass it along.. why are so many witnesses so sick?

  why do they often seem to be plagued by strange, chronic illnesses - that often appear.

  to have a strong psychosomatic element?

  It's true that the conclusion has been assumed beforehand, but that misses the point. I think Met was sufficiently clear that he was not speaking authoritively and his "evidence" was purely anecdotal.

  I'm not a medical professional - but I feel very strongly about this issue and want to pass it along.

  Why are so many Witnesses so sick? Why do they often seem to be plagued by strange, chronic illnesses - that often appear

  to have a strong psychosomatic element? MS, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Self Mutilation, Depression, Repressed Memories,

  Anorexia, out-of-control allergies, you name it.....?

  This pretty much matches my experience as well. I've never associated with a social group whose members seemed to be afflicted with as many vague symptoms and complaints as the JW's.

  article about some people who where shunned by their church after they started studying with jws.. does anyone know the link to that post?.

  I agree; This happens way too much to be accidental I've always suspected that there exists a "liberal" element in the writing department that for whatever motive, "gets something" out of keeping the pot stirred like this. You can just about name the topic; Age of the earth, Length of "Creative days," Whether the predator/prey cycle was "intentional," Global flood, etc., and you can find information that blatantly contradicts the established JW "Wisdom."

  Weird Surprise Tonight

  yeah so i was catching up on some of my back issues of the watchtower and i was surprised to see a dear old friend and his wife, shannon and rosaliya rainey, in the gilead graduating class pg.

  15 of the july 1, 2005 issue.

  i didn't even realized that they were at gilead since it has been over a year since i saw them last.

  Hi Ed,

  I think that it will be interesting to see what becomes of them and in the future, when a lot of the Organization has changed, I will be very curious to talk to Shannon if I get the chance.

  Yes, I suspect 20 and 30 something JW's today are in for a rougher ride (Doctrinally speaking) than the Bible Students experienced in the 20's

  my wife is a newly dunked dub, and my kids have been hearing the propaganda for about 3 years now.

  Heb 10:24-25 "...not forsaking the gathering together..."

  The problem is that JW's think the Bible was written for, to and about them.

  This allows them to overlook the fact that this was specific counsel given to a specific group at a specific time in regard to a specific problem in the early history of Christianity and the JW meetings bear little semblance to these first century gatherings

  why doesn't the wts point out the new light (tm) when it is published and do a compare and contrast study so jws are fully aware of the change and the ramifications of the change?.

  to this day there are many jws who are unaware of the generation change in 1995.

  Anyone that thinks they can explain the "Generation change" needs to go back to school and take a remedial English class. (With emphasis on what role temporal prepositions play in a sentence.)

  imagine in your mind any "evil" person: rapist, murderer, theif, addict, terrorist...etc.

  now, if you were born with that exact dna, had that same brain chemistry and went through the same enviornmental stimuli and life experiences as they did, you would do the exact same "evil" things.

  we only think we are "free.

  why was the soft tissue preserved?

  all it means is, "we don't accept what real scientists say.

  Can you observe the 'genetic drift' alleged in the fossil record?

  No.

  The fossil record yields little in the way of DNA as I'm sure you know. That's why I gave two modern examples of genetic drift between species that few (if any) creationists would be inclined to argue with. The Cheetah is obviously a member of family Felidae, and obviously related genetically to the other big cat species even without confirmation from DNA analysis and examination of its teeth, skeleton and internal organs (All of which have certainly been done) yet it has diverged to the point of true reproductive isolation.

  Speciation does qualify as macroevolution.

  I've tried to discuss this subject on another board and found myself frustrated by the (apparent) need of the creationists to redefine the term "macroevolution."

  "Macroevolution" is any change to a breeding population at or above the level of species. A speciation event is therefore "macroevolution" abeit the smallest amount of change that would qualify as such. Alan has cited legitimate speciation events.

  Relegating speciation events to the catagory of "microevolution" by redefining the terms is ultimately a losing battle for creationists because genetic drift between divergent species eventually results in true reproductive isolation. (e.g. The cheetah and other members of family Felidae, the fox and other members of family Canidae)

  If pyramids only came into existence by means of preexisting pyramids, then deducing a relationship between similar structures would be perfectly logical and valid.

  However since pyramids can be built from the ground up at the whim of man in any place at any time, the same deduction is neither logical nor valid and consequently, there is not really a valid comparison here with life. There are too many other valid reasons why similarities might exist.
