  I think Limbaugh is out and out wrong on this

  i listen to rush most days for entertainment.

  i agree with him on some issues and disagree on others.

  but today he said something i believe is an out and out lie.

  After listening to it, I wonder if he's under the impression that vaccines are permanent, as in lasting the rest of your life (?)

  Although this is true (Or nearly so) for some diseases, it's not for others. Tetanus, for example, requires regular boosters because immunity fades after just a few years.

  At any rate, it's much better to take your political information from political sources and your medical information from medical sources.

  This is the same guy that said back in February, "...I’m dead right on this. The coronavirus is the common cold, folks," which is true for some strains, but not for the one responsible for Covid-19 which is a novel strain.

  Two months later, the U.S. has 23,644 dead out of only 587,173 confirmed cases, which is an alarming ratio.

  I think what he was probably trying to say is that flu shots are prepared for the strain(s) that are anticipated to be active during flu season.

  Since this is simply an educated case, it's sometimes wrong and the strain you're inoculated against is not the strain that people become infected with.

  After all the goofy and just plain wrong things he's said about the Covid-19 outbreak and SARS-CoV-2 in the last month, you would think he would be embarrassed and perhaps stick to topics he understands.

  People Are Drinking a Lot More When "Locked Up" in Their Homes

  it was amusing the other evening on the local news to see the increase of drinking due likely to people having to basically stay at home.. the news crew went out on recycle day in a couple of areas during the week.

  they showed the general neighborhoods (but not the specific houses).

  the reporter walked down the street and looked into the recycle bins.

  some light entertainment ... there are apparently 39 beatles songs hidden in the picture, but depending on how to interpret some of them you may come up with more.. please post one each, to give everyone a go, and describe where the song is in the picture (so it's not just coming up with a list of beatles songs).

  also, check for existing answers - i'll post summaries to show the ones already identified.. .

  Yes. And the flu killed more people last year than Ebola, Bubonic plague and Diphtheria combined. Clearly the dangers of these diseases are overblown....

  Doctors, lawyers, engineers and other professions that involve public health, safety and trust all have disciplinary boards which can suspend or even strip you of your professional certification entirely.

  Conversely, practicing medicine, law, and engineering without a license is illegal, which is why technical writers have to be careful not to cross that line.

  It's really not that hard to understand.

  Perhaps the pendulum has swung too far, but surely we don't want to go back to the days when anybody could claim to be a physician and charlatans hawked Radium Belts, Electronic Radio Biolas?

  It's easy on a forum full of intelligent people to think that we are so much more sophisticated today and maybe it's easy to forget that JW views on evolution are accepted as solid science in some circles.
  

  A good case in point was an article written about the Covid-19 outbreak by a right wing political activist here in the U.S. The gentleman, by the name of Aaron Ginn, dressed up the claim that this was really no worse than the seasonal flu with impressive looking charts, outdated and cherry-picked statistics and the public lapped it up.

  --Even when the claims did not follow from the charts like this little gem below:

  
  

  His article was taken down and he (Predictably) cried censorship.

  Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread

  this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.

  latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.

  the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

  Well yeah, but the person in your article above claimed to be a "Registered Nurse" when she in fact was not. She then when on to promote her crackpot theories under the guise of a medical professional.

  It's actually a pretty good example of the line where free speech ends.
