  bible says flood occurred approximately 4000 years ago.

  that is about *200 generations of breeding to get to the population on earth now.

  keep in mind that the population increase is geometric.

  To be honest, Fisherman, plausibility doesn't seem to be a huge consideration for JW writers.

  Kinda my point. An intelligent person can step outside the boundaries of the natural world as we know it (i.e. by indulging in either a preternatural or a supernatural explanation) but the instant you do that, all bets are off. If the "rules" can bent or broken or even simply assumed to be different, then there's not much point in discussing mathematical possibilities.

  Interesting article.

  Curious why the Bryens don't seem to think the Patriot and THAAD systems are deployed in the continental U.S. or why they don't mention the most obvious reason for not bringing such a balloon down over a populated area, which would be the fear of a BW.

  i wonder how many are like me staying pimo for the great association and gathering etc.

  also find it very interesting having a front row seat watching the collapse of borg.. im not wasting any more time or money on anything i don’t want to do like preaching and mostly just go on zoom .

  there is nothing i want to do that would be considered disfellowshiping sin, i’m married and want to live by bible principles but i have serious doubts that the gb were chosen by god and are his one and only spokesmen on earth.

  For about a week I had been thinking along the same lines pertaining the distance between the Earth and the Moon in the NASA photos, but it was trying to think of how to state it simply without me making and uploading any photos.

  Perspective makes a huge difference:

  

  Picture on the left was taken an inch away from Gumby's face and picture on the right was taken 5 tiles away.
  

  Similarly, there is a big difference in perspective between a picture taken a scant 80 miles from the lunar surface (2022 Artemis/Orion) and a picture taken more than 750K miles away. (2011 DSCOVR)

  I dug up Soviet era Luna and Zond pictures to show that the Russians actually did some of this stuff first. Since then, China, Japan and others have joined the club:

  I'd point out that genetics is not a hard science like math, but it is not interpretation either. The observations of myself and others on this thread are directly supported by evidence and experimentation.

  We know the effects of consanguinity in humans through direct observation. We know the minimum number of breeding pairs required to repopulate a species through direct experimentation. Neither is a matter of interpretation.

  It's been many years since I've heard the JW's mention the water canopy theory (Morris - Whitcomb) and even longer for the annular theory (Vail)

  An intelligent person can fill in the gaps in the flood story with the supernatural if they want, but I think it only raises deeper questions.

  What, for example is faith? Is it the acceptance of realities you can't see or is it the stubborn denial of those you can?

  To be fair though, I don't know what it was like to grow up in era of high quality digital pictures and equally high quality edits of those pictures. I'm sure it would affect your perspective.

  Starting in 1958, the U.S. and Russia made 10 unsuccessful attempts at lunar orbits and hard landings. They all crashed and burned for one reason or another.

  In September of 1959, the Soviets succeeded with Luna 2. --First man made object on the moon. It was a hard landing, but the probe released a sodium cloud before it impacted so the whole world would know.
  

  In October of 1959, Luna 3 did a successful flyby. --First time mankind saw the dark side of the moon:

  
  

  In August of 1966, the Lunar Orbiter 1 (U.S.) photographed an Earthrise for the first time.

  The only way to make a conspiracy work, is to include Russia in it, which seems very unlikely, as the two sides would have loved to discredit each other's accomplishments.
