Hi jwbot,
Since when do teenage boys make better desicions than teenage girls?
They absolutely don't. Teenage boys are lunkheads through and through. The fact that few males wouldn't jump at the chance to have sex with an attractive teacher should be proof enough of that in and of itself. This isn't a stereotype either. A male is at the very peak of his sexual desire between the ages of 14-16.

I'm speaking hypothetically of course, but:
If a 23 year old male teacher had sex with my 14 year old daughter, I would be in a murderous rage. If he didn't wind up with the flash suppressor of my HK98 up his nostril it would be because he stayed the hell away from me.
If a 23 year old female teacher had sex with my 14 year old son, I certainly wouldn't be happy about it, but neither would I be overly concerned about the long-term effects on him either.
Is this inconsistent? Is this irrational? Yes, I suppose it is. At the same time though, as the father of a 14 year old daughter, I can't honestly say that all things seem equal to me in comparison.
My daughter is quite sensitive. When I was 14, I had the emotional sensitivity (and the sense) of a brick. Even at 14, loud noises still upset her. When she was younger, they would make her cry. When I was 14, I lived for loud noises. Rocking the whole neighborhood with acetylene balloons and canon fuse was a favorite passtime.
My daughter's interest in boys still revolves around friendship rather than sexual desire. By the time I was 14, I had been fantasizing about every attractive female of any age for several years at least.
Most importantly for purposes of this discussion, my 14 year old daughter's relationship with men revolves completely around trust. She relates to men she can trust and this trust is still a very delicate, innocent thing. This includes her father, her grandfathers, a handful of her uncles and a few of her teachers. All men of high moral quality that she respects. If it ever happened, it would be the violation of this trust that would put me over the edge into a murderous rage.
When I was 14, I was way past the point where my mother was able to discipline me, both physically and mentally. That was exlusively the purview of my father at this point, and we went nose to nose at the top of our lungs many times. At 14, I already felt protective towards women as a group. I knew that many were older, smarter, and much more experienced than I was, but frankly, that was exciting. I had long since discarded as a relic of childhood, the idea that I needed to trust their motives. That was something for little boys who ran to their mommies when they were hurt.
Please understand, I'm not trying to defend this woman. She should absolutely be prosecuted.
If I'm defending anything, I guess it's the attitude of the other males on this thread. It's just hard for us to see it it the same light as the victimization of a little girl.

A BLOOD QUESTION
by Mary inok, i'd like your viewpoint on this.
i might be going in for surgery and of course with any surgery there's a chance that you might need a blood transfusion.
for obvious reasons, i think it would be better if i stored my own blood beforehand in case it was needed.

JW's may now have blood transported to another location, treated, returned and then re-infused as long as it is part of an ongoing therapy
Yes, it's interesting to read through the threads at noblood.org. You can see that even JW's balk when the double-think reaches a certain level.
As long as it's part of an ongoing therapy, the patient's blood can be collected, taken to another location, leucodepleted and irradiated, brought back and then reinfused back into the patient. Even though this involves the storage of blood, be careful not to use the "S" word to the Witness patient!
I wonder if predonation in preparation for a upcoming scheduled surgery would be distinguishable from predonation for it's own sake? In other words, if you viewed the predonation as part of a phased surgical procedure, would it not arguably be an "ongoing therapy" itself?

I don't understand this at all. If you can use one of those blood recirculating devices why not be allowed to store your own blood?
In the past at least, the JW's have rationalized the use of cell savers, (intraoperative autotransfusion) kidney dialysis and heartlung machines as being an "extension" of their circulatory system.
In other words, they believed that the blood had not actually "left the body" when these machines were used and therefore didn't need to be "poured out."
As an example of the hair-splitting going on here; Isovolemic hemodilution was forbidden to Witnesses for over a decade. What finally made it acceptable was the addition of a small tube, which allowed some of the blood to circulate from the storage bags, back to the patient.

Now what is the Society's reasoning on why you can't store your own blood before an operation?
Believe it or not, the JW's based this stance on the Deutoronimic instruction regarding the butchering of wild animals for food!
Since wild animals were put to death from a distance using methods that didn't sufficiently bleed the carcass, (e.g. A spear or an arrow as opposed to using a knife to slit the throat in the kosher manner) additional steps were required to bleed the carcass. (e.g. The blood of a wild creature was to be poured out and covered with dust.)
The JW's interpret this to mean that "blood removed from the body must be poured out." This was their sole basis for prohibiting autologous predonation. Exactly why they think butchering an animal was relevant to surgery, I'll never know.
Further, anybody who has every hunted or butchered a farm animal should recognize the problem with this interpretation. When you slaughter an animal, the blood is not first removed and then poured out. The blood is removed by being poured out.
The JW interpretation assigns a posteriority of the pouring out relative to the removal and consequently involves at least a transitory storage of the blood that did not exist outside the formal ritual of shechitah. It's yet another instance of the Witnesses colossal ignorance of Judaism.

Organization Unnecessary?
by Sunspot inzion's watch tower, 1895, p. 216 says;.
"beware of 'organization.
' it is wholly un-necessary.

The current JW concept of "Jehovah's earthly organization" is just another example of their Orwellian word games.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with people working together in an organized fashion. When a large group share a common goal this is arguably a necessity
However the state of being organized is not quite the same thing as a social, legal, or political organization. We dealing with different definitions of the same word here. The JW's typically justify the latter on the basis of the necessity of the former.
In other words, while God might want or even need humans to be organized, it doesn't follow from this that God wants or needs human institutions and their attendant administrative bodies.
