Staying in physically for all the benefits
by Indoubtbigtime ini wonder how many are like me staying pimo for the great association and gathering etc.
also find it very interesting having a front row seat watching the collapse of borg.. im not wasting any more time or money on anything i don’t want to do like preaching and mostly just go on zoom .
there is nothing i want to do that would be considered disfellowshiping sin, i’m married and want to live by bible principles but i have serious doubts that the gb were chosen by god and are his one and only spokesmen on earth.

The MESA, which was a small storage compartment lowered from descent stage of the module after landing had an integral bracket where the camera was fixed during flight. (MESA = Modular Equipment Stowage Assembly)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfE2QwkFKi8
Aldrin lowered the MESA and activated the camera before Armstrong disembarked. That's way the actual recording is at such a goofy angle.

How we saw Aldrin's first steps:

(In the Conan O'Brien interview above, Aldrin is talking about the actual landing of the Eagle module)

The landing animations were crude, even for the time. --Not even on par with Fireball XL5 and other children's shows
Here is the May 17, 2000 interview with Conan O'Brien where Aldrin mentioned them:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYPgU2Ge4Vw
Here is the relevant exchange:
O’Brien: “Let’s talk about this because this is fascinating. I remember very clearly; I think anybody who was alive at the time does. I remember my parents waking me up and we went down, and we watched you guys land on the moon.”Aldrin: “No, you didn’t. Because there wasn’t any television, there wasn’t anybody taking the picture. You watched animation so you associated what you saw with… you heard me talking about, you know, how many feet we’re going to the left and right and then I said contact light, engine stopped, a few other things and then Neil said ‘Houston, tranquility base. The Eagle has landed.’ How about that? Not a bad line.”
----------
There was no possible way to film the landing of the Eagle, as the cameras were securely stored inside it at the time of the landing.
O'Brien (who was six years old at the time) either misspoke or mistook whatever animation he saw for reality. Either way, Aldrin responded humorously, but accurately.

Aldrin's comment needs to be assessed in the context of "why something stopped" (His words) and Zoey's question, which was why nobody had been to the moon in a long time
Anything less is JW style dishonesty
I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you weren't alive at the time and don't remember the animations (?)

Okay,
The first (1.34) clip is from the September 5, 2015 National Book Fair interview in Washington DC
Here is the full session with the little girl, Zoey in context:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4UP6nRMuGs&t=430s
Here is the relevant exchange:
Zoey - Why has nobody been to the moon in such a long time?
Aldrin - Ha...That's not an eight-year-old's question; that's my question; I want to know, but I think I know. (pause) Because we didn't (pause) go there and that's the way it happened and, and if it didn't happen, it's nice to know why it didn't happen so in the future if we want to keep doing something we need to know why something stopped in the past that we wanted to keep going. Uh....money..is a good thing. If you want to buy new things, new rockets instead of doing the same thing over, it's going to cost more money and other things need more money too. So having achieved what the President wanted us to do and then what thousands, millions of people in America and millions of people around the world...You know when we toured around the world after we came back...the most fascinating observation were signs that said, "We did it" --not just use, not just America, but we, the world, different countries. They felt like they were part of what we were able to do and that made us feel very good.
----------
I think its abundantly obvious in context that Aldrin is talking about the period following the Apollo program. NASA went off in an entirely different direction (A reusable Space Shuttle)
There's a hulluva difference between saying we didn't go back to the moon because we didn't and that's just the way it is versus saying we never went there at all and it was all a hoax.
The latter can't be squared with Aldrin's mention of the money a new moon program would cost or his emotional recollection of the We Did It! signs (Which actually were a thing) or his statement that we achieved what the President wanted us to do or his response to other questions in the interview. (e.g. Weren't you a little scared going to the moon?)
I'd also add that you are citing Flat Earth sources. I'm hoping you haven't gone down that rabbit hole too.

Yes please do
Okay.
Since you have provided three different wordings of the statement (Plus the claim that he thought the microphone was off) I'm going to insist that you provide a source.
Specifically, which interview are we talking about? Date, place and event would be nice.

My advice to you (And I mean this in the kindest possible way) is to get out of the JW's ASAP; find something you're passionate about and go back to school.
I'll post a written transcript of exactly what was said if you want, but you might want to actually check your sources. You might want to listen to the conversations yourself. You might want to take a look at the animations that Aldrin was talking about. They looked like something from Gerry and Slyvia Anderson, to be honest.
It will save you some embarrassment.

I have to disagree. The internet gives us an endless stream of information....
I'm puzzled by the comment as well.
The various interviews with Buzz Aldrin can all be tracked down and viewed in their entirety. (i.e. The May 17, 2000 interview with Conan O'Brien; the March 13, 2015 Q&A at the Oxford Union and the September 5, 2015 National Book Fair interview where he spoke with the eight-year-old girl, Zoey.)
It's clear in context, that the Facebook and Instagram claims about these interviews are misleading at best and outright lies at worst.
Who's doing their due diligence here? Who is not verifying their sources first?

So the defense of one conspiracy theory (i.e. That the Apollo lunar landings didn't happen) is to invoke another conspiracy theory? (i.e. That the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter is also fake)
I'd point out that the LRO actually has taken earthrise pictures, (using both its cameras) but I'm pretty sure at this point, that the answer would be more conspiracy theory.
Incredulity is not evidence.
