  i wonder how many are like me staying pimo for the great association and gathering etc.

  also find it very interesting having a front row seat watching the collapse of borg.. im not wasting any more time or money on anything i don’t want to do like preaching and mostly just go on zoom .

  there is nothing i want to do that would be considered disfellowshiping sin, i’m married and want to live by bible principles but i have serious doubts that the gb were chosen by god and are his one and only spokesmen on earth.

  To be fair though, I don't know what it was like to grow up in era of high quality digital pictures and equally high quality edits of those pictures. I'm sure it would affect your perspective.

  Starting in 1958, the U.S. and Russia made 10 unsuccessful attempts at lunar orbits and hard landings. They all crashed and burned for one reason or another.

  In September of 1959, the Soviets succeeded with Luna 2. --First man made object on the moon. It was a hard landing, but the probe released a sodium cloud before it impacted so the whole world would know.

  The only way to make a conspiracy work, is to include Russia in it, which seems very unlikely, as the two sides would have loved to discredit each other's accomplishments.

  bible says flood occurred approximately 4000 years ago.

  that is about *200 generations of breeding to get to the population on earth now.

  keep in mind that the population increase is geometric.

  In a similar vein, we've driven enough species to the brink of extinction to have a very good grasp of the number of breeding pairs required with higher mammals.

  1914 marked the third separate occasion an Adventist group invoked the invisible explanation when the tangible events they had predicted failed to materialize.

  Since a heavenly, invisible event can't confirmed or falsified, it becomes a matter of faith for those who accept the explanation.

  We do know, for example that the cheetah nearly went extinct about 10K years ago.

  You've made a lot of mistakes on this thread. On page 12, for example, you posted what appears to be a partial picture of an Apollo LM module together with the following statement:

  Atop the the third stage (the S-IVB) of the Saturn rocket was a section called the LM adapter, which connected the third stage to the Service Module.   The three astronauts, who were in the Command Module, then docked with the Lunar Module and prepared for orbital insertion.This procedure had been rehearsed during both the Apollo 9 & 10 missions. Once Lunar orbit had been achieved, two of the astronauts would get into the Lunar Module and prepare for descent.

  Your righteous incredulity is therefore misplaced. The Lunar Module did not carry three astronauts; it carried two. (Mistake 1) It did not carry them from the earth to the moon. It carried them from the Command Module down to the lunar surface and back (sans the descent stage) (Mistake 2) It did not "fly" under propulsion, it was carried in a compartment specifically designed for that purpose. (Mistake 3)

  If you can respond honestly and intelligently when somebody untangles one of these ignorant social media posts, then maybe we can talk. Otherwise, I'm going to have to agree with others, that you're trolling.

  In your own words, can you explain the basic mathematics of an orbit? Kepler worked it out in 1605, so you shouldn't have too much trouble.

  Sadly it's not.

  Some kid who has apparently taken his knowledge of space flight from Star Wars didn't understand that it's normally a series of orbits. (And why)

  How Will They End 1914 Teaching?

  i'm sure this has been discussed, but 1914 has to go away.

  instead of, the overlapping generation teaching, they should have just ditched 1914. .

  they should have done that a long time ago with 1975. it's the last of the teachings in the charles taze russell era.. i'm thinking they just will stop talking about it, and it will be out of the mind of the rank and file loyal witnesses .

  Ordinary people tended to fall into three groups. Some truly believed the poisonous ideology. Some kept their heads down; said whatever the NSDAP wanted to hear and either did what they could or simply tried to survive. Others ended up wearing red triangles in prison camps.

  That war ended nearly 80 years ago and those people have all passed on. In JW theology, virtually everyone gets resurrected, (Mit Ausnahme von Leuten wie dem Schnurrbartmann...) as they have paid the price for their sins.

  Let's take an example closer to home. --A U.S. family in the early 1930's. As the children grow up, some of them become JW's and some don't. Those that become JW's identify as the "great multitude" They serve prison terms for refusing to do alternative service. Their children are expelled from school. They struggle to find work as a prison sentence was a huge stigma at the time. Life is difficult for them
  

  They endure these hardships because as Rutherford had said early on:

  “Both companies must at all times prove faithful to Jehovah and his kingdom if they would receive God’s ultimate approval.”

  JW's have been very explicit that there are two and only two Christian hopes. (There are many more quotes I could give, but I'm going to save them until "Scholar' has spoken his mind.)

  Unfortunately, the JW's went way out on a limb by tying one of those two hopes to the supposed proximity of the end.

  Things did not work out like they thought and those people are simply growing old and dying, just like everyone else throughout history. The hope they were taught to believe in did not materialize and that is not a trivial matter.

  Christians don't serve God specifically for a reward, but if you strip away their Christian hope, they become people most to be pitied. (Not my words...)
  

  So my question, which is essentially "What was the point of being a JW in the first place?" is a legitimate (And sincere) one.
