  their attacks included hijacking commercial vessels and launching missile and drone strikes against various ships.

  when kamala ran for the next president of the usa, she made the comment that there were no americans soldiers fighting anywhere n the world.

  i am watching the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of ve day.

  80 years since the defeat of nazi germany in 1945. i find the interviews of the stalwart men and women who played their part very moving.

  these veterans speak with pride and sadness about their experiences, those they lost, those they fought alongside.

  Probability of Earth and life being how it is

  there are some things we don't know about existence and whether the earth is a simulation or even a creation.

  but we can do some statistical analysis on it.. the probability of a planet like earth existing in the goldilocks zone and having a moon that perfectly eclipses the sun is extremely low, but it's not impossible.

  the habitable zone (or goldilocks zone) around a star is the region where a planet could potentially support liquid water on its surface.

  Probability (The branch of mathematics) has nothing to do with past events. Once an event has happened, the outcome is certain.

  Even from a purely semantic standpoint, I think the question is unwittingly changed by knowledge of the past event. For example, if 1000 people enter a raffle, the odds of any randomly selected particular one of them winning (all other things being equal) are 1000 to 1.

  However, once the raffle is over and person A has won, some might assert that the 1000 to 1 chance has indeed occurred, at least for person A, but the original question has now subtly been changed..

  The original question: “What are the odds of any randomly selected particular person winning” has now morphed into “What are the odds of person A (the actual winner) winning”

  The odds of the actual winner winning are, or course, 1. Once an event has happened, the outcome is certain.

  There's no "IF" here. Joint sessions of Congress normally happen twice a year (State of the Union address and Convention of the Electoral College) and the Capitol Building and grounds are closed on these occasions.

  Constitution and Independance Avenues are closed. 1st and 3rd Streets are closed. Mobile barricades with "Area Closed" signs mark the boundaries of the protective zone established by the Secret Service.

  Crossing into the protective zone, even inadvertently, is trespass although an angry shout from a police officer is about all that would normally happen, provided you complied with the order to leave. If you refuse to comply, it's no longer a misdemeanor. If you have a weapon in your possession, it was never a misdemeanor.

  Like I said, I'm sympathetic to J6 defendants who were denied due process and I'm also sympathetic to any who did not realize the seriousness of what they were doing, although I think you would have to be low grade moron to fall into that category.

  I lived and worked in DC for 13 years. I've visited, the Capitol, the White House, the various memorials and monuments many, many times. I've watched Congress in session and know what it takes to be admitted to the visitor galleries

  I'm sympathetic to the fact that many of the J6 defendants were not given due process, but the idea that they weren't trespassing is simply not true.

  800-why-1914 helpline, Marilyn Zweifel

  for many years, since the mid 80s, marilyn zweifel manned the help-line.

  several months ago, the help-line stopped due to marilyn's serious health issues.

  marilyn was hospitalized a few weeks ago.. she has serious health issues and has suffered from 2 serious falls... she is now in a nursing home.

  Curious if Zweifel was her actual surname or was it assumed for the work she did (?)
