I am a deist. There seems to me to be an underlying theme to everything in the universe. And there seems to be some sort of universal energy that exists. What it is we can prove little of, but people have been tapping that energy for thousand of years. I believe that no one religious system has all the answers but in most there is some relation to an energy force though misguided men have misunderstood or misapplied it.

Oh NO! Our HERITAGE!
Those sacred words "under God" are a part of a tradition that extends back near to the origions of this country! How dare they! I mean those blessed word have been uttered by children in this country everday since clear back to...to...uh... well the fifties! I shudder to think about what my great grandfather, who I never knew, that died in 1937 would think! He would be devastated to hear of this. Well I mean he would be devestated if he had lived past the time "under God" was actually IN the pledge, you bet he would. Our GREAT forefathers, and foremothers don't forget, would NEVER allow something like this to happen because they stopped that GODLESS BASTARD HITLER! And that ENGLISH HEATHEN that king ,you know the one. And the COMMIE ATHIESTS too! And we need to stand up and defend OUR GOD GIVEN RIGHT to say "under God" whenever we please. Can't you see where this is headed? If people can't say "under God" while chanting in sacred rites of obligiatory nationalistic ferver, we all will be diminished.
This truly is ..."one nation....under God...who lives in the sky..right above the continental U.S., you know, like perpendicular to a tangent at D.C., straight out there in the sky...just bigger though maybe...I mean he's probably bigger than the US boundries but maybe out there far enough away that he lines up with America, and maybe some of the ocean, probably some of the Gulf of Mexico too...with liberty and justice for all!

Any ex-annointed ones here or know of any?
by carlitos71 inin all seriousness, i would like to know from anybody in this forum if anybody on here had ever experienced such an "annointing".
even though i do not believe in the tower and its teachings for a couple of years now, i would always question the supposed "feelings" an "annointed" person was suupposed to have.
in light of younger people claiming to be of this "annointed class" in recent years, i question their motive and all of those that were older which were most likely "annointed'".. thanks

I was always glad that I wasn't "annointed".
We had this gal at the hall, she was 45-50 maybe and was of the remnant, allegedly. It was strange, the way you were supposed to treat one like this. It was a kind of open reverance almost, but secretly there was a mocking aire to the whole thing. Nobody belived she was annointed! It was one of those things you could only talk about with your trusted brothers (someone who wouldn't or didn't need to use it against you.) So there were these individuals or small groups that believed something individually, but as a group they believed something entirely oppsosite. Ahhh. Unity.

Judge rethinking ruling?
by writerpen indeveloping.
story
judge who issued pledge of allegiance ruling issues stay pending further appeals.

Good post Eduardo.
If anyone cannot see that the logical decision was made in the ruling then I pity them. I'm sure the judges ruling were not all athiests but rather they were sensible people who had to make an honest evaluation of the case and came to the only logical conclusion. To do anything else would have been shirking the duty of their position.
One doesn't have to like the fact that the ruling was made or even the implications of such, but I fail to see how they could have ruled any other way.

Pledge of Allegiance ruled unconstitutional
by Dogpatch inpledge of allegiance ruled unconstitutional.
june 26, 2002 posted: 3:04 pm edt (1904 gmt) .
san francisco, california (ap) -- for the first time ever, a federal appeals court declared the pledge of allegiance unconstitutional wednesday because of the words "under god" added by congress in 1954. .

Its about damn time.
BTW- they cannot and did not rule the pledge unconstitutional. It is ruled unconstitutional to use the pledge in state sponsored functions (schools, government functions). It is already mandated by law that there be a separation in church and state and this is only a logical extention of that.

Top STUPID criticisms of the WTS
by JanH inthere are certainly enough valid criticisms of the wts and the jw religion, but a significant number of often-repeated criticisms of the religion are, imnsho, just ludicruous and serves to take attention away from the real issues.
significant problems with the wts includes, but are not limited to, the shunning policy, the blood issue and of course the corporate policy of hiding child molestors.. here is a list of criticisms of the wts that i find particularly annoying to see:.
russell was a freemason (or, even worse, the wts is part of some other large-scale conspiracy like the illuminati).

Best thread I've seen here for quite a while. Nice work JanH.
If you make an argument against the WTS during conversation with JW family, friends, etc. and use these "stupid criticisms" you will likely end up looking, well, "stupid" and prove only that you are the mislead apostate they thought you to be.
For example, it was mentioned that the WTS is protecting pedophiles. Yes they are. But if you argue that the motivation is to protect pedophiles because the GB likes pedophiles, are pedophiles, and maintain some kind of pedophile underworld for the sake of evil itself then your argument loses all credibility. The pedophile issue is a side effect. The real problem is that the GB thinks they are directed by God and that the organization itself is perfect, even if those in the organization make mistakes. It appears that they will do almost anything to prove that to be true even if it means mistreating the innocent members whom they are supposed to be guiding.
