Anti-Evolutionists Wanted !!!!
by Francois inthere is an evolution question bubbling up down the threads a little way, and it minded me to try to really get to the nub of the opposition to the technique.. i would like to pose very serious questions, and i hope they attracts serious, considered responses - once and for all.. why is it impossible, in the minds of anti-evolutionists, that god did indeed create us, the earth, the sun, and everything around us including the entire physical universe, and that evolution was his technique; evolution as a divine technique?
how do you know, how are you so certain that's not the case?
how would you explain your opposition to god if he told you personally that, yep, that's the way he did it alright?.

The "mini-god" Elder syndrome...
by dustrabbit inprofessor: since you stated in another thread that your dad sees himself as a "mini-god", it got me wondering.
does jehovah, if he actually exists, views the gb/the elders and other religious leaders along with jesus as "mini-me"s, as in the "austin powers" characters?.

Now I understand why Drabbit is so strange. You spend enough time in Clearfield and you get that way. That is a very cheery facility up there, and nice kids too.

Wholewheat please read.
by Pureheart inhi wholewheat,.
when i first came onto this board i was shocked at the language too.
please go to my member page and read starting on the second page, so there are rules of conduct, what rule of conduct exists here, too much hatred in here, get over it.

You are on the right track brother. I was born and raised JW in a good congregation full of many good people. However when you begin to check on the WTS and all the things that you have been convinced were "truth" you may begin to see a pattern. I was shocked to learn many of the things that I was taught 'from infancy' were not quite true. Of course there is no way to know this unless you are able to allow yourself to question, without fear, the 'facts' as you have been taught.
There is a lot of bitterness of this board because many have been mistreated by the society, but there is also much knowledge about and experience with the witnesses here. It is good to know that there are many others who feel as you do and have been exactly where you are and we understand.
Good luck in your research and remeber this: Either the GB is or isnt inspired by God, at all times. There is no inbetween.

The BEST things about the USA
by OUTLAW inwe`ve seen some pretty mean usa bashing.so it`s time for a new thread about the good things in the usa..first off they got coors beer,a dam fine beer i must say.disineyland, what kid dosen`t want to go to disineyland?been there more than a few times and i intend to go again.tex-mex food,i`ll be dammed if i can get a decent enchilada this side of the border.the oregon coast with the giant red wood forest,a beautiful drive on a holiday.the humungas servings when you go to a usa restaraunt, especialy the steakhouse`s.so if you live in the usa,or go for a visit like i do,what are the things you enjoy in the usa?...outlaw edited by - outlaw on 2 july 2002 20:25:30.

My surreal district convention
by RunningMan inwell, i just got back from yet another summer ass-marathon.
seventeen hours of sitting in hockey arena seats that were made for three hour games, trying to stay awake, while not losing contact with my extremities.. needless to say, the program was dull and boring.
in fact, i'm not completely sure that they didnt just re-run last year's.

My heart goes out to you brother, noone should have to endure that nonsense. I was feeling drained just reading your post, only the levity saved me. Im glad you can keep a sense of humor. Maybe instead of Matt 24:14 you can take faith in the words of old John 3:16 "the truth will set you free",(but only after the closing prayer).

Diversity! We have a little of everything and everyone in these 50 states and we are stonger because of it.

End of the world
by kenpodragon in"it's the end of the world as we know it ... and i feel fine" .
i have always loved this line, as it sums up my conversations with witnesses and family that remain witnesses.
when 9/11 happened i got a lot of letters, conversations, and phone calls from witnesses wanting my wife and i to become active again.

Why do they go back?
by zenpunk ini always hear at least two stories a year about someone i know who's left the "truth" goes back despite the trauma surrounding their departure.
this morning i heard yet another story.
a few years ago and elder's wife in my former uk congregation abruptly left the organization, surprising everyone and getting a big df in the process.

I am not replying to answer your question but to ask if you could tell me the date of this incident and if it was in the news. I am a bit of a tornado freak and would like to look into this.

I was pondering...again.....
by VioletAnai ini have another question re a bible topic.
i know some of you don't believe what it says, but just to get your opinion would be helpful.. ok, so in genisis.....the angels see the beautiful women of earth and get hot under the collar and proceed to come down and have sexual relations with these women.. now, some time before this happened, two silly individuals in their naivity, listen to a dumbarse snake and to tell you the truth if i was a new human and a snake spoke to me, i'd take pretty much what he says as gospel....cos that just doesn't happen.....or i'd be having a psychotic episode.
so they go and disobey god and what do they get for punishment....kicked out of home and left to fend for themselves without food, shelter, health, happiness or they father's love...all for disobeying him over a silly apple (i know this is to do with the 'sovereignty' issue, why he needs to prove himself i'll never know).

So I was reading Homer's Odyssy the other day and I had some questions....
See what happens when you start trying to make too much out of myths? You can and will find answers for all of you questions regarding the Bible. People have been pondering these strange questions for a long time and there are rationalizations, but they all seem to me to be contrived.
"God works in mysterious ways", "not meant to be understood yet","things were different then","what really happened was this-" are of course the universal copout answers when the rationaliztions don't convince you.
