Science is always willing to change in light of new evidence.
"Condescendig attitudes" and "arrogance" are perceptions of the reader. Attitude has absolutly nothing to do with a logical debate. Something is either logical or not. A person's tone has nothing to do with a statement being true, false, or undeterrmened.
However, you may see "argument from intimidation" from time to time, but if you realize this with out getting butt-hurt you can easily refute such arguments. Or, you can counter with a baseless attack of your own and call people or "science" out with an ad-hominem attack on their arrogance.

HPV's? I mean come on creationists, whats the goddamn point of viruses (exept for the ones god uses to punish sinners of course)? I write this as I sit here tired from a night of no sleep due to a nasty cough (but then I am a sinner).

I hearby nominate you for sainthood.
I really loved "My Book of Bible Stories" when I was a child. The pictures were so vivid and captivating. Remember the picture of lots wife as a pillar of salt while fire rains down and Lot and kids run away? I think pictures like those would go nicely with your book. Some beautiful illistrations of buckets of foreskins and such would really add a nice dimension.

Do you have it? What is it to you? What accounts for it in the evolutionary model?

I am an athiest and also a musician and a song-writer. I have it.
And no, there is NOTHING that accounts for it in the evolutionary model. In a study of psycho-acoustics, this is one point made early on : there is (so far) no explanation for the level of sophistication that exists in the human hearing process. I would thank God for music, if he existed, so instead I will just enjoy it.

I think that their "life force" term is a compromise. They want to explain what animates a body without admitting belief in a separate spirit entity.
I am facinated by this style of writing. I wonder how one hones such a skill diguising fallacies. The writing is smooth and mesmerizing and it is easy to see how simple minds can easily be swayed: A few quotes here and there and then ... non-sequitor... few more quotes ... take quotes out of context ... throw in traslation of ancient biblical word ... state an obvious fact ... non-sequitor .... quotes ... summary howing how obvious conclusion is ... promise everlasting life ... conclusion. Masterfully evil.

Im not quite sure that they do....
Anyway, it would be a good excercise to go through and identify the particular fallacies, who can count the most?

for example: we had a 'faithfull' brother getting older and confused.

when something did not really went as he liked it (didn't get the answer etc) he shouted very loudly 'god doom me in the hell!

one time i had to do the closing prayer on the midweek meeting.

This is embarassing, but okay, here goes: I was 6 years old giving my first public talk. I was nervous. I had to pee. I got on stage. I was nervous. I began to read my talk, just how daddy wrote it. I peed. I felt it run down the leg of my red corderoy (spelling?) suit. I finished my talk, word for word just how daddy wrote it. Daddy was not proud and neither was Jehovah .

WTS and the mass media

given the extend of the abuse that the wts perpetrates on its members isn't it surprising that they don't get a lot more negative mass media coverage?

i wonder why that is, is it because they have helpful, powerful connections or because being so rich they can buy them off?

some extensive publicity in the mass media would cause them serious harm.

Ding ding ding we have a winner. Only when you get out of the org and look at it from the outside do you see that they are not as well known as they like to think. I think I saw somewhere that in the US they are like 0.39% of the population (that may not be exact). A bunch of (for the most part) law abiding folks who keep to themselves wont get exposure.
A documentary would be great. Just showing people how strange they are would prove to be interesting. It might make for some Sundance Film Festival fun.
