Yesterday's public talk.
by VioletAnai ini'd like to make a few points which i know i will be eaten alive for, but here goes...... is there really a devil?.
history of religion has always believed in the devil, but has portrayed him in different lights....he himself transforms into an angel of light, making something that is evil seem innocent and fun.
his best ploy: having people believe he don't exist...this is to his own advantage.. he is a malignant enemy of god and man!

sunday meetings
by Realist inin the awful sunday meetings are people supposed to answer the questions from the wt by just reading the stupid paragraph again or would the elders prefer to hear a real comment?

A brother who was "reaching out" might try to reword the answer but embellishment is not appreciated. Basically they just want to make sure everyone understands the particular point of the dribble they are reading. You can't have too much repetition when you are brainwashing people.

LaYYYYYYne Staley is dead. Still.
"Down in a hole and I don't know if I can be saved." Guess not. Who needs Satan when we have heroin.

Does This Make Me A Racist?
by Englishman intodays newspapers are full of the le pen story.
much concern is being voiced that right-wing organisations will ride on this story to make their own agendas more widely known, ie, send all the immigrants back home, britain for the british, sod off everyone else!.
now i personally love different cultures.

If I were to move to a foreign country I would feel obligated to be fluent in the language and understand the culture. I would not feel that I should adopt the culture. Many immigrants I meet dont even bother to learn the language.
Here is the question that I ponder on this subject: Why is leaving your country the only answer? I understand that there are many desparate people living in horrid countries. Are there no patriots anymore that are willing to make their own country a better place? Would you? Would I?

Thats what I am saying, rmayer, he has to be using a lot of background people to get some of the details that he gets. You can't keep that all secret forever. Unless something is whispering in his ear...oooooooooooooooooooooooo

I am still wondering about the flippant remark about the "rock concert". It says "Far from it!" like being at a rock concert is akin to playing with Satan's wanker. 'You know how those rock concerts are.', they seem to say without saying.
Xbrit, the one thing that always bothered me in the org about dress was exactly what you pointed out: all clothing is wordly. So if we emulate poorly dressed buisinessmen we are glorifying God.

Did anyone see the Discovery Channel special last?
by crownboy ini saw it at my cousin's house last night, it was very interesting.
it traced the lineage of man back to the "real eve", who lived somewhere in africa about 150,000 years ago.
they were able to make this determination by reading the "mitocondrial dna" of humans; looking for mutations, etc.

Larc, I was talking about the show running man saw. It was called 'In Search of Eden' or something like that. Nothing to do with Adam and Eve, just about where the fabled Garden was located. It was a waste of time. Dont get all riled up now, the Discovery Channel program crownboy is talking about was very good.

Yes that was a different show about trying to find the garden of eden. Primarily about one 'scientist' who was convinced that it was possible. From the small part I saw it was obvious that he did not have a realistic grasp on the chronology of the whole thing.

I had to read that twice to believe it was really there. Then I began laughing, at the hypocrisy not the subject matter. Then I read it again. Now I am just shaking my head. Now I am thinking about my family reading that saying, "those darned other religions, why cant they see that we are the truth, no Elder would ever do a thing like that." Now I am a little angry.
