I heard an interesting tidbit at the meeting last night. One of the elders and his family got a private tour of the accounts department at Warwick because they're related to someone who works there. I can't be sure that he remembered correctly, but he said that Canada, Germany, UK, and US have a surplus in donations, Brazil has just enough in donations to cover their expenses, and all of the other countries are short.

I think I'm with SBF in that it would be better for the religion to go through a major reform than to disappear completely (at least in the short term.) That way, we could (hopefully) avoid mass suicides and depression because witnesses could keep their resurrection hope without having to be so strict about everything. Even if they won't admit it, I think that the majority of witnesses would love it if the GB relaxed most of the rules and regulations.

Day 1: The Night of Anger, Tears, and Pain
by Saethydd inmy freedom came with a heavy cost.
i couldn't stand the dishonesty so when my sister went out of town on a trip i told my parents that i no longer wanted to be a jw.
when my sister got back and i told her she was so angry, said she really wanted to slap me, then she ran off sobbing, a few minutes later she deposited every gift i ever gave her in front of my door.. my entire family has turned against me.

Striking Out On My Own
by Saethydd inthose of you who know my story are aware that i'm currently disfellowshipped and living with my parents.
up until now, my plan has been to be reinstated and then fade, but recently my plans have changed.
in a conversation with my mother a few days ago and she made it clear that she would not be okay with me getting reinstated with the purpose of going inactive.

Congratulations on your progress! I would also like to see your letters. Since I would like to avoid being disfellowshipped if possible, I'll try to avoid presenting too many logical arguments to my parents. I do plan to write a letter to them to assure them that I do love them, to thank them for all they've done for me, and to thank them for raising me to the best of their ability.

An update
by WeatherLover ini told my parents that i was considering taking some college classes, (of course they think that i mean at the community college) and that it would be a good idea for me to take the act (which i took on the 8th of this month).
i'm trying to take baby steps so it won't be a big shock to them all at once.
and just to make something clear, i'm not planning on starting college this fall, but instead i have my sights set on next year.. p.s.

@smiddy The decrease in memorial attendance was here. I talked to my aunt about college, but I didn't really talk about the religion just to be safe.
@tornintwo I certainly hope I can accomplish what I want.
@nathan natas Thanks!
@saethydd Actually I graduated from high school last year. You can definitely still find good scholarships even after taking a break from school. -

P.S. Memorial attendance this year decreased about 18.3% from last year.

Start searching for scholarships now!
I will!
If you are in the USA, there should be a community college nearby that will help you obtain transferable credits to the 4-year program. Such an interim plan might save you thousands of dollars in the long run. Are you taking any AP or IB course which will exempt you from remedial or even intro courses which would help speed your completion rate?
I have considered community college. I'll know more where I stand after I take the ACT. I actually graduated last year, but I had good grades so hopefully I'll be OK.
Explain that because maybe he can be approached on that basis. Did he get higher schooling or work longer hours. Did he skip school to pioneer? Is he an Elder or MS. Did he go to college or learned on the job?
He didn't go to college, but he works really hard and he does work long hours. He's a MS. He has auxiliary pioneered several times in the past, and now he's asking me if I want to auxiliary pioneer with him in April.

I'm 18, and yes, I'm baptized. The problem with me living at home while attending college is that the nearest school that has the major I want (meteorology or similar) is 2 1/2 hours away. I really didn't want to continue to go to meetings while at college because I've already been going for over two years while not believing. Also, my parents will know something is up because otherwise I wouldn't be going to college. And continuing to go to meetings could give them false hope about me returning to the "Truth."
On pretending that I'm only going for 3 years, I think they will see through this because I'm pretty sure they know that a meteorology degree is a 4 year program. I do think it would be a good idea to bring up college without mentioning the religion at all, but they will probably bring it up.
I likely won't qualify for grants because my dad makes too much money. I'm going to take the ACT in April, so I'll see if I can get any sort of scholarship. From that point I can figure out how much more money I'm going to need. I currently have a part time job. I worry about working and going to school at the same time, but I doubt I can get around it. I really have no idea if my parents would be willing to help me at all.
