Xenophobia v Shrimpophobia
by snugglebunny innothing as amusing as a bit of heated xenophobia.
a case in point:.
xenophobe: "i hate america and i hate all americans!".

You can replace "I hate America and I hate all Americans!" with "Bad associations spoil good habits".

With up to 70% of young ones leaving what's the future of the jw's?
by karter inthey wlll always have new people coming in but the majority of the congro's are getting older particularly the inner city ones were it is expensive to live.
they are struggling to get men to be elders and m.s's and this can only get worse as very few young ones stay around.

Seems like people are still having a hard time understanding that the WT is no longer relying on their people, nor on their preaching to thrive financially. They have a real estate business that is thriving and growing, so they can't care less if they lose people in the long run as that's no longer what they rely on to survive.

Does Mr Trump have his own 'hotline' to Russia's President Putin?
by fulltimestudent inaccording to australian newspaper, the canberra times (for aussies, its a fairfax publication) trump is able to contact putin and the conversations cannot be tapped.
(an interesting claim).. quote 1:.
"a former senior western intelligence operative, a specialist in russian counterintelligence deemed credible in washington, has provided the fbi with evidence that trump 'and his inner circle have accepted a regular flow of intelligence from the kremlin, including on clinton, since russian intelligence had compromised trump during his visits to moscow – so that he could be blackmailed'.

Interesting, and although (trust me!) I'm no fan of Donald Trump, I don't think that his relationship with Putin is that close, maybe not even that great. There are business deals that involves Trump's enterprises with the country of Russia, bu that's way far from the two being in any kind of direct relationship.
I may be wrong, of course, but I doubt that those two have even talked to each other.

J W Survey Article : Upcoming Assembly Encourages J W Youth to Lie About Homosexuality
by BluesBrother in..........however, it seems that this practice [theocratic warfare] is seeping more and more into regular witness life.
in fact, one speech outline for the upcoming 2017 circuit assembly appears to directly encourage witnesses to lie to the general public about watchtower’s teachings on homosexuality............. http://jwsurvey.org/mind-control/upcoming-2017-jw-assembly-encourages-witness-youths-to-lie-about-homosexuality.
nb this is a month old.. if it has been previously posted and i missed it, sorry .

Their current teaching is: “You can be gay, as long as you do not practice it.” This isn’t so bad considering that they also preach abstinence to all the single heterosexuals. In fact, I am willing to bet that there are more single heterosexuals out there than there are gays.
That is so wrong at so many levels. Still thinking of being gay as (a) something that people "practice" and (b) something that JW idiots are entitled to make decisions about for others.
The WT has no saying about who or what people are, period. It's not up for discussion, it's not up for policy, and it's nobody's business to determine who or what we are. Gay people don't need anybody's permission or approval to be gay. And who are they to say that anyone is "pleased" by hiding who they are?
Nobody is entitled to say who they are but themselves, end of discussion.

Why Is it the Girls who Hang in There?
by snugglebunny inhaving seen many, many people leave the org over the years, i have to say that, when it comes to married couples, it's almost always the man who makes the first move to leave.
conversely, when it comes to being converted into the witnesses, more often than not it's the wife who joins up first.
although that wasn't the case with my own parents, my father became converted and my mother followed very reluctantly..

I don't know about joining first, but when women are conditioned to become obedient followers and never being the main decision maker in the family, it make sense that they may not feel right being the first ones making the move out of that organization.
It has to take a toll when they spend years and years being told that they are secondary, that all they can do is make suggestions, that they have to be submissive, and that they are weaker than men.

i really hate all these "what if" posts
by nowwhat? inall these hypothetical questions about the organization's demise or what if god did this or that don't do anyone any good.
personal experiences.
info and insight about your congregation, circuit, area and the watchtower itself is what we need.

Well, this is a forum that is open to many people with different opinions of what matters and what doesn't, and most importantly, with a number of people who find themselves, probably for the first time in their lives, questioning what they have been taught for their entire lives. So it makes sense that to some people those kinds of posts feel relevant and important.
Not everyone has the ability, capacity or emotional intelligence to articulate things or to talk about things in one given particular way or with the depth of thought that some may find compelling. And not everybody is interested in posting about the same subject or from the same perspective.
In other words, if you don't like it, simply ignore it and move on. People are free to post what they feel is valuable to them and there's nothing wrong with any of it for as long as they abide the forum rules.

The Prophets v. "Jehovah's Organization"
by Ding inaccording to the wt, who lead "jehovah's organization" on earth in ot times?.
the kings of israel?
the priests?.
-
scratchme1010
How does all that fit into the WT's view that JWs should obey the GB without question because Jehovah always works through his organization?
It doesn't. It's all made up nonsense.

The post was close to what they are doing, but they cannot be farther from them being in bad financial shape. They are in the business of real estate, they got pretty much every KH turned to them for free and sold them and consolidated their properties. They are richer than ever, not losing money.
