Has anybody seen the new half-hour JW talk show called The Inside Story?
I have no interest in seeing that, plus I don't need to see it to know I'm not going to like it.

the pilot is included in part 2 of the latest gilead graduation program, and they said more will likely come.. basically, it's probably one of the most cringeworthy programs to ever come out of jw broadcasting.
it has all the tropes: an opening monologue, a studio audience, a live band, and guests that move down the couch to the left as the next guest is introduced.

so i've recently been travelling about usa and mexico and of course seen the carts parked at tourist spots all over and i had a funny thought ...if somehow we could get a bunch of identical carts together and print up a placard with a few key facts about the real truth with jwfacts logo and just park them right in the same areas ,dress up in our old meeting clothes and stand about with a coffee and look on our phones i wonder what response we would get from anyone ?
or park them outside assembly's and just stand.off at a distance ...basically the same thing they do to all society !.

That would be a great joke to play at their expense, but personally I feel no need to make a point to them. To me, recovering is from letting them as out of my life as possible. Engaging in that is just still dealing with them.
That said, I just came back from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I didn't see any JW. So that's a great place to escape from the carts if you'd like (and great town to visit).
today i went to a large talk.. there was no arguing or swearing, just kindness and respect.. it was orderly and calm.. trash was put in the proper place.
people were even picking up litter that wasn't even theirs.. the speakers were passionate and inspiring.. the entire event was orchestrated by volunteers.. it was march for science, not a dub ass-embly.
so much for "only jehoopla's people" behaving like this at large events..
rebel8, your post revived a long lost memory. Way back when I also felt amazed at some public places and see how well behaved people were, and by choice, not because of some Jehovah/paradise crap. I too was surprised to notice that.
jehovah witnesses unaware they are fulling bible prophecies.
for many of us witnesses that have left either as stricken lost sheep or unlawfully disfellowshiped please consider that our brothers & sisters in the synagogues of kingdom halls are misled & need our help in trying to pull them out of the fire.
the test now on them is about just how they are treating their unlawfully excluded (disfellowshiped) brothers & sisters, as foretold at isaiah 66. at present they sit in judgement on us the growing great crowd who have come out & they are prepared with hard- heartedness to condemn their brothers & sisters to a final everlasting death, by running away as spiritual cowards refusing us a cup of life giving water (truth) matt 10: to explain the apostasy in their temple the disgusting thing in the holy place.

I stopped reading here. Nope, some of us are ex-JWs precisely because we're done with saving people from something. Good luck.
okay, i keep reading something and though jw's do not get involved in national wars, my experience has always been they are very violent people.
every convention i have ever been to was filled with children being beat within an inch of their lives for just not being able to take a third day of mind-droning silence without being able to move or now even sleep.
i have seen whole congregations laugh at stories of children being beaten and calling out to "jehovah".
About the OP, yes, the WT has no regard for children. They are horribly treated.
in the clam booklet says we must limit our association with df ones .
some jw are being a little nicer to some who areally df in my area has anyone else noticed this?.
...has anyone else noticed this?
No.
if you had to choose to belong to 1 religion, i was curious as to what any on the forum would pick.. i realize most here are likely atheist (i would have to say i'm agnostic), but if any would like to share their opinion, and maybe why?.

Still none. I can't see any circumstances in my life that would force me to practice any religion.
now that she has announced that she is 20 weeks pregnant and not married, what is her status in the cult?

Same, which is, full of it.
my therapist inspired me to start looking on the bright side.
even though i've pretty much given up listening to the bs and usually tune out the meeting by playing on my phone/tablet, i find the local needs talk oddly fascinating.
probably because it's the only part that doesn't seem outlined to death (at least at our hall), and you truly don't know what you get.
Hopefully, this "brightside" mentality will help keep me sane.
I imagine that you have reasons that make you feel obligated to continue attending those meetings. I´m glad that if that´s the case that you can find something that gets you through them. I hope that such positive attitude lasts enough until you can make better plans, that is if you really want out.
just though i'd start a thread devoted to languages, dialects/sociolects and accents, with the idea being that posters can comment on any language, or dialect or accent of any language, on this thread.. any phrases, expressions or idioms that you find interesting are also welcome.
first, the subject of english accents came up on another thread.. the british isles have many different types of accent (although many of the dialects may be dying out), and if i start to take a closer look, i can't help but see 'patterns' .... in received pronunciation of standard english, the letter r is pronounced initially, between vowels, and after consonants, e.g.
red, arrow, break.
Yes, I'm a language geek.
Me too. I am preparing a speech where I am talking about learning culture through language. I am giving two examples. One is on a gig that I had in the early 2000s doing work for the US State Attorney´s office in NYC. I was in charge of transcribing body wire recorded conversations in Spanish and prepare those transcribed documents for translation into English. I specialized in translating from Puerto Rican and Dominican slang, mispronounciations and idioms into actual understandable Spanish.
