the following is a txt message i just had with a jw about why i decided not to attend meeting.

i fully realize that this will get me blocked.. jw : you dont want to answer me why you dont go to the meetings.. joe : ok.. (1) the 2 witness rule in the handling of a accusations of child sex abuse.. (2)the covering it up and out of court settlements that they are making to victims of sexual abuse.

unfortunatley the brothers and sisters are totally unaware of what is going on and the magnitude of it.. (3) the comments of geoffrey jackson when testifying before the australian royal commision on its handling of child sex abuse.

Conversation ends and I am yet to get a reply. So I'm guessing I'll either be blocked or get the imperfect humans reply. I fully realize many here will tell me this is the wrong approach, but I needed to vent.

I think time will tell about that being the best approach. That is how you feel, those are your thoughts, so I personally see nothing wrong with that approach.

Also, I know that we call it a conversation, but those lame reaching out attempts are unilateral. they ask questions but not with any interest in anything you have to say. Their purpose is a mixture of curiosity, they want to know what you thin, but only with the purpose of determining how they will treat you from than point on, not because they have any interest in you.

If you asked me, you got a whole lot of nosy brainwashed inappropriate people off your back.

So much of our education reform is driven by a sympathetic approach, where people are saying, "Let's go and help these poor inner city kids, or these poor black and Latino kids," instead of an empathetic approach, where someone like me, who had grown up in this environment, could say, "I know the adversities that you're facing and I want to help you overcome them."

That's the best line of the talk. I know that even with the best of intentions, this "talk down" attitude that decision makers have towards education in this country is causing harm and has proven to be ineffective.

Great talk. Very inspiring.

when i was a kid and even in my adult life i believed in demons.

the demons were always around.

we had to be careful that we didn't do anything to upset jehovah or else the demons would make their way to us.

Were you affected by the demons or did you always think it was purely nonsense?

As a child yes. Nobody bothered to explain to me how that demon thing works, so I made up my own script around it and was scary. I thought they were very powerful beings capable of owning your own mind and body. Scary for a child to grow up believing that.

Sometimes I wonder how I managed to stay relatively sane.

Just got back from Field Service

i had to work with an elder in fs today.

there was no way out.. this elder is from africa somewhere, right off the boat.

I grew up seeing that fear of whatever (people in general, being seen preaching, encountering a coworker, a former drinking buddy, a former lover/girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse, being judged the same way they judge others, the list is endless). That avoidance is reflective of the attitude that many JWs have. To me that's clear evidence of what really in the hearts of many JWs and try to have their children do and be what they don't/aren't. Just pathetic.

Would This Be Adultery?

i just happened to read a news article from some months ago about doctors having performed a successful penis transplant.

the recipient lost his due to cancer, and doctors expect him to gain full use of his "new" penis, including sexual activities.

considering some of the more goofy interpretations of doctrine that the gooberning body trots out that the rank and file must obey under penalty of shunning i wonder if a man had this surgery, would he and or his wife be df'd for adultery?

Received my first letter since leaving

today, i received a paper letter in my mail.

since i left at the second half of 2016, i never received something like this.

it is a one and a half page hand written letter that is written by an elder pioneer (i guess he needed some easy way to get his time in).. it is not written in english, so i will translate it:.

That affirmation of certainty is what makes many people stay, using this pipe dream to feel safe and secured. I hope you know better.

The letter doesn't say anything about you, doesn't ask anything about you, and shows absolutely no interest in anything about you. Funny thing is that they think that they are being loving by doing that.

Throw it away.

Was just wondering how I didn’t come across this absurdity when I was a JW for 11 years.

We come from a place where "questions and answers" means that they themselves provide both. That alone tells you how much they control what people get presented to them.

I personally don't classify people and things as "good, bad, evil, etc", but I've always seen that the bible Jehovah is a very irresponsible being. I have posted that if you look at the psychological profile of that so-called god, we get Roger from American Dad.
