The Samaritans
by LoveUniHateExams injust been reading a bit about the samaritans.
no, not the professionals that answer phone calls of depressed people ... the ethno-religious people of israel and the west bank (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/samaritans).. they claim to be descended from the israelite tribes of ephraim and manasseh.
this would make them israelites but not jews (strictly speaking, jews are people who are from the kingdom of judah).. for many years some jewish people dismissed the claims of samaritans, instead suggesting that samaritans were descended from unrelated people whom the babylonian empire transplanted to palestine/the levant.. from what the wiki article says, it seems scientific studies support the samaritans' claims of heritage, at least along the male lineages.. those samaritans living in israel speak modern hebrew and those living in the west bank speak palestinian arabic; they number about 800 in total.. israel recently recognised them as a distinct ethnic group.. i find it fascinating that a group of people today are seemingly the descendants of a people spoken about in the gospels (i.e.

Was the Mongolian Conqueror, Chingiis Khan, one of your ancestors?
by fulltimestudent inthat's a side point in this national geographic feature, but its rather fascinating to think that he may be a progenitor for one out of every two hundred men in the modern world.. i wonder why yhwh did not want to include the asian steppe people to the north of china among the world empires?
maybe yhwh was really a bit racist.. in pre-history, ancestors of the mongols crossed the bering strait and settled the americas.. the mongols were a later development of the steppe people of southern siberia.
2000 years ago, the xiongnu (the likely ancestors of the huns who eventually destroyed the western roman empire and took control of vast swathes of europe) were a thorn in the side of the so-called first chinese empire and the han dynasty that followed.

Maybe YHWH was really a bit racist.
That is if you believe that the Bible is the word of god. makes perfect sense to me if you consider that it was written by men at the time when human kind was the most naive about the world around them.

Galileo was so confident that . . .
by compound complex inhe never bothered acting out his "thought experiment.".
i can watch this over and over and remain thoroughly transfixed by the translation of the horse's forward movement to the hand to the ball.
(see galileo's battle for the heavens).

he never bothered acting out his "thought experiment."
I'm not sure about what exactly in his life he didn't act out "through experiment". He was quite a scientist and went to a University to study medicine, so at some point I imagine that he may have done some experimenting with some of his theories.
Here's information about his scientific methods.

Sincere question to those who no longer believe in God
by nowwhat? ini get it, not a fan of yahweh the desert god.
but what about jesus?
anything wrong with his teachings like the sermon on the mount and the example he set.

I get it, not a fan of Yahweh the desert God. But what about Jesus? Anything wrong with his teachings like the sermon on the mount and the example he set. You have to admit if everyone lived by his teachings the world would be a better place. I find it hard to believe he was a figment of someone's overactive imagination. All intelligent comments welcome !
I have stated before that I do not consider myself neither a believer, nor a non-believer. I don't have a believe or non-believe about the god thing; I have an attitude about it.
Regarding Jesus, he was in fact a real person. He existed. His teachings at the time may have been excellent (provided that the documentation of his existence is accurate).
Jesus walking on water, being the son of god, turning water into wine, bringing people back from death, that's all nonsense to me, and none of those things have ever been proven that happened. Most importantly to me is that if I'm going to believe in Jesus as some kind of deity, I don't need to see any miracles, I don't need any of that. What I need is seeing how he lived, how much was he putting his money where his mouth is, how much of what he preached he actually showed that he believed in himself. To me, that's what a role model does, that's what any kind of leader should do.
Then there's the practicality side of it. Today people attribute so much to that Jesus thing that there's no way to collectively worship a god in accordance. BTW, to me that says that as a god, he sucks. Look at all what happens in the world around hi, or basing bad actions on his teachings. Saying that i believe in Jesus places people in certain category, and not one that will result in anything better in any way, shape or form.
Then there's his teachings versus the way we live today. Any Wikipedia page is 1,000 times more informative, practical and useful today than any of his teachings.
Finally, there's a reason why I have an attitude, which is, why on Earth do I need Jesus, or Jehovah, or a Bible, or a temple, or an organization, or anything else outside of myself to tell me that I have to be a loving, kind person? I can do that on my own. In fact, I have better morals than many of those Jesus freaks I see around. You go to a jail, look at how many believers are there. That can give you a clue that imposing morals on people doesn't work.

More head-in-the-sand nonsense of the worst possible kind ...
by LoveUniHateExams inwhenever a hollywood actress has been propositioned or touched up, we know all about it.. but a story - mostly suppressed by the mainstream media - is emerging of far worse abuse of human females.. telford appears to have a grooming/sex abuse scandal of its own to rival the ones in rochdale, oxford and other uk towns.. it appears the msm, police and politicians and other authorities are very slow in learning their lesson from rochdale.. unbelievable that this case hasn't made the guardian or the bbc.. i guess the sisterhood thinks hollywood women are much more important than telford girls.

BTW, here is a little more information about Christian Terrorist Groups around the world, those are the ones documented.
It was heart braking hearing the stories of people who have been left to die in the woods after getting assaulted and raped by people from some Christian paramilitary group in MD, USA.
Those are worse to prosecute, since people don't even knowledge that they exist, leave alone attempting at bringing them to justice.

What should I do?
She is not JW and they are allowed to sleep together. I don't understand why my mom, grandmother and aunt are allowing this to happen.
What should I do?
Personally I don't feel comfortable with telling people what to do. I don't know her or you, and the information you provide is rather minimal.
That said, I do feel comfortable with suggesting to follow universal precautions, and basic family rules (pay rent, get a job, no criminal activity, no disrespecting anything or anyone).
Good luck.
