False. They wish. Compared to the rest of the universe of religious organizations, the WT is an insignificant minuscule dot.

Withdrawing community support in the congs
by purrpurr ini've noticed in the past 10 years that the social support that used to be available in the congs, a shoulder to cry on, elders to help with family/marriage issues these seem to have been purposely withdrawn.
counsel is even heard from the platform that the elders are not there to help people with their problems.. so first in the 80s-90s they take away the congregation get to getters and social events and now they seem to be going one step further in taking away the emotional support for people too.. this will take away an aspect that i'm sure was keeping alot of people in the borg, the community support.
if that's not there and its just about meetings and ministry how many will start to get their emotional support elsewhere?.

If you ask me, that's never been there. The JWs I knew never were there for me or my family. They were constantly getting into each other's business to tell on others or to talk shit among themselves.
I know that's not the case with all JWs, but it doesn't surprise me that their quality of Christian values is diminishing. They have larger problems to deal with.

Wasted A #@$%&!** Day
by FedUpJW inwell i got to waste another day.
for the sake of still in family i attended the circuit assembly.
they say a joy shared is doubled, and a burden shared is halved.

Thank for sharing this burden...I think I may even be able to hold down supper now!
I didn't share the burden. You say that it's a waste of time then give a detailed summary of the wasted day. You want us to waste our time too?
I don't need to read anything to know that they are a waste of time.

Why NO bibles??
by stuckinarut2 ini know we have all said it before, but it simply blows my mind that the jws doing cart work do not have bibles on the cart to give out to interested ones!.
how can they say they are "bible students" trying to share the "bibles message" and not give out bibles!?.
other christian groups take the commission to share the bible seriously!

If that doesn't scream "CULT" then nothing does...
Don't know about that being evidence of them being a cult, but to be honest, that's one of the things that I point about myself as a JW. I started preaching when I was 4, and stopped when I was 23. Never, not once did I hand a bible to a person. Not once. I gave a lot of the WT literature, but not one single bible, ever.

To borrow a line (or 2) from truth_b_known, No. If you are asking in reference to the recent non-news issue dealing with Facebook selling off your info, it hasn't changed my social media habits at all. I put little to no info out on the interwebs about myself as I possibly can.

U.S. political turmoil ...
by mikeflood inthat russian thing, all those suits, the bitter political divide... it's getting out of control.
i think trump could resign and pardon all, he even could get ill because to much pressure (even for his lawyer), or he's gonna get so cornered that he could take very drastic decisions.
they should concentrate in govern the country instead, it's getting tiresome.

These are difficult times for all Americans (I believe) regardless of what side we are on. Before Trump resigns, though, it should be proven that there are reasons for him to do so. Same thing with anything brought against anyone in government, not just him.
I definitely agree that both government and the media should focus more in policy, government, making the country stronger, and less in Stormy Daniels and Comey (which BTW, he's saying things that I like hearing, but don't necessarily mean that I trust or believe him).
Whatever happens, I think that we all have to give up the win/lose attitude that many of us have. Even if the current president gets "fired", there's no satisfaction in any of whatever negative thing happens, for the simple reason that all of it affects all of us.
I agree with you, all of this sucks from every angle.

How To Finacially Bankrupt Mind Control Cults With Legisaltion
by Brokeback Watchtower inif a government wishes to protect it citizens from the clutches of mind control cults, all they have to do is make laws that allow former members to sue theirs ass off.. what if they made laws about a system the meets the 6 points mentioned by margret singer to manipulate a person into submission to it's directives and cause mental, physical, and emotional harm and make it possible to sue them for damages.. if such laws were in place it would spell financial ruin to all coercive authoritarian cults..

You make an interesting point. True, but then how do you handle:
- Freedom of religion
- Freedom to assembly
- Freedom of expression
- Freedom of press
I think than more than law, maybe education and awareness might work better. Not everything has to be a law, and not everything bad has to be punished in order for people to make better choices. That is, not to mention what exactly will be the definition of a forbidden group? Experts in the matter of cults, themselves, do not keep a list of groups that they consider cults, high demand or controlling, mostly because of the legal implications.
What ever happen with awareness, education and outreach? One thing that I know very well is that you cannot legislate attitude and ignorance. Education and awareness may work better than punitive law.

@scratchme - lol, what, you think that's a lot to read? I sat down this morning and banged it out in and hour or so. I put it into Open Office afterword just for fun and it was seven pages long. Is it sad to say that might not be my longest post ever?
It was late at night when I saw your post, that's all. Ok, I read it. Amazing. I can tell it's one of those things that you just type, and type, and type, and thoughts just flow.
I appreciate your sharing this. I love that you are not trying to convince anyone of anything.
Once again, thanks.

JW Cartoons
by FinalFlame ini've recently watched the jw cartoons centered around teaching young kids the doctrines of this faith.
while i no longer practice any faith, i am well versed in this one.
i must say, these cartoons are in bad, bad taste.

You're preaching to the choir. Actually, you're just preaching. Can't care less one way or another.
