I don't need to be crass to express my point, which is, personally I don't need any other person or institution (religious or otherwise) to tell me that the JWs are full of it. I can't care less about the bible, so knowing what it says and using it to disprove what another person or organization says is not something I find relevant.

by StoneWall inas some of you know i'm not a religious person at all after leaving the jw's but there was a link on another site i was on and the link was to a pastor's vid.
(about exposing jw's as false prophets etc)being that i'm not at all interested in hearing a sermon, i was going to just leave the site and continue researching some other stuff but then curiosity made me wonder if he truly knew anything about jw's or was just going to be another religious leader downing jw's in an effort to make his version of the "gospel" sound more appealing.i have to admit i was pleasantly surprised at the extent of his knowledge of scripture that jw's like to use as well as the history behind the organization.

Do a person need a college education to be a good JW
by Santa inyea i know it's not required or anything, but a lot of the people in the congregation are clearly in need of help that the elders can not give them and none of the other members seem to want to help.
so is it wrong for a person to want to get advanced social and medical training skills to help those in need?.

Any institution, person, organization, group or anything or anyone who tells you that learning is not a good thing is not minding your best interest. What relationship there is between learning something and having skills enough to provide for your family (or more skills than the ones needed for that matter), and living forever in paradise on Earth? That made up BS from a controlling organization. Besides, at least in the USA, now every person should have skills to get any kind of job. Unskilled labor is pretty much gone. So yes, go learn something.

Do you really think continuing saying God isn't real, and you're dumb if you believe that is going to make me change my mind about God? Please. I'm sorry that you all like to attack others beliefs because they don't fit your own.
I love seeing these believers always playing victim. We non believers are not trying to shove our non-believes down other people's throats. You believers are. You are the ones believing in non-believers deserving to die or some kind of punishment. You are the ones always vomiting all kinds of condemnations on other who don't believe, or those who don't behave according to the morals you preach (and never follow anyway), and then you turn around and claim to be attacked when you get put in your place or called on your BS.
Nobody is attacking you, sweetie. Just mind your own effing business.

This is the part about your letter that I find interesting:
Your many rules and policies continue to choke mine and others spirituality - and stumble many to the point of leaving the organisation.
You know that's not going to change at all, that is, if for some reason you keep trying to rely and trust in that organization, right?
Also, I wonder what would you do if they actually read your letter and make the changes that you (and seemingly only you) propose? Do you think that the Wt is going to become a better organization, that people who left will go back, or that those who are still in will stay?
Seriously, what is the point of all that you are doing with those letters?

Young JW's attitudes
by Phizzy ini met an old friend last evening, a great guy, an xjw for longer than me.. during a conversation about our experiences since fading (neither of us are da'd or anything) we got to talking about the young jw's.. his wife is still in, and he has two lovely daughters who he is trying to teach the art of critical thinking so that they can make the right choice in the future.. what worries him though is that he is convinced almost all young jw's do not give a "proverbial" if it is the truth or not, they simply wish to remain in it because of the social aspects, loads of friends and activities that they feel safe partaking in etc etc.. so how do you convince these young people that they would have a better life if they left ?.
they see it as losing all their friends, and being alone and trying to build new relationships, which is mostly true.. how do we convince them to make the leap ?.

I think it is a matter of them learning their own way. The best to do is to have them always aware that they have other choices than what they have in the congregation. As soon as one of them gets "in trouble" and they see the consequences, and as soon as they realize that there is a lot more to life than the JW activities, they can use the outside support and awareness that some of us didn't have.
But it has to come from them. The same than with adults.

Are there any urban legends that tend to circulate primarily among JWs, or have you actually experienced any strange or inexplicable things that you would label the paranormal? For those born into the religion, do you think the Society's emphasis on the paranormal or on demons affect your religious beliefs when you were young or tended to assist the Society in exerting control on your beliefs? Do you think it made you more fearful as a child or as an adult?
There are a few events in my life that have happened that I cannot explain. However I tend to not pay much attention or try to dwell on it.
Today I'm not really very religious at all, and I don't affirm nor subscribe to any belief (or lack of). Most of my self-help work after leaving the JWs has been about reducing its influence from my life to the minimum possible.
Back when I was a JW it never made sense to me to think that some book or computer or artifact is supposed to have demos attached because of its previous owner. I've always thought it's stupid to think that the last known owner of a given object has the capacity to have demos lingering around it, as opposed to any other people who has been in touch with such object during its manufacturing, distribution, selling and delivery. Why thinking about the last person who owned something before me, and not all the other people who have been in touch with it before? Besides, will that rationale make the opposite true, that is, will objects owned by JWs have angels attached to them? The whole thing sounded stupid to me from day one. Never made sense.
Also, as a child I'd always find a flaw or at least simple mindedness every time that I was hearing one of those stupid "demon" stories. Not to mention that some of those stories were just downright a lie. Also, I grew more fearful of the adults I was supposed to trust in the congregation and in my family than some abstract concept of bad beings out there trying to harm me. The tangible, human ones around me were doing a wonderful work at that without their help.

I know a couple who are both therapists who specialize in exit counseling and support for current and former members of organizations like the WT.
Their names are Bill and Lorna Goldberg. Their website is www.blgoldberg.com
They do private individual therapy, but also have a support group (the group is free to attend).

Anyway, my point with this kind of crap from them is that they are the real perverts. They are the ones adding morality to something as natural and simple as the human body and cleaning it.

How were you on the ministry, zelouse or lazy? Did you have any zelouse and successful publishers? I am sure that the large % of witnesses can't be bothered on the ministry, and this is why I was not surprised to discover no outsiders have been bought in to the congregation since I left.
I think that because I was born with that organization shoved down my throat, I became both very zealous and dedicated. After all I had no other way of knowing life and as children we always manage to find a way of doing what children are supposed to do.
Later as an adolescent was when i started noticing people slacking. I naively thought that every person was supposed to be as enthusiastic and devoted as I was. That started giving me ideas and I started being less into it. From that point all the way to my fade, I started becoming more and more disinterested, although I was always very, very good at preaching. I actually liked going to talk to people (maybe because that was the only real contact with the outside world I had). Sadly, I was never encouraged or praised for my good skills or devotion.
