Look for the script of the JW dramas in their assemblies. They are more like a cheesy sitcom, but entertaining nonetheless.

Do you know any good novel about faith crisis?
by paradiseseeker ini'm looking for something to read.
i'm interested in ecclesiastical settings like churches and gothic cities.
but the most important thing i look for is the inner thoughts and evolution of the main character: his/her feelings of guilt, regular visits to the confessor, self-comfort drawn from faith, praying god/saints, relapses and self-loathing as well as his/her process of "waking up".. i know it's something very particular and there's a lot of junk literature about the topic with poor writing and archetype characters, but if you have read anything of good quality, i would be very glad to know.. thank you in advance..

The same way he denied molesting a child. That's why his ass ended up in court.

Since the Borg is so interested in money why not do the following to keep and gain new members:
by Sour Grapes inmake the taking of blood transfusion a conscience matter since the bible forbids just the eating of blood.. have youth programs for the congregations like basketball teams, baseball teams, etc.. still not allow the celebration of christmas and easter because of the pagan origins, but allow birthdays, mother and father day celebrations.
the cart people currently love baby showers to celebrate the birth of a baby but then they can't celebrate the birth date of the same baby one year later.. only have the best speakers give the talks on sundays.
too many monotone, just read the outline speakers now.. drop the members giving talks during the clam meetings.. allow the jdubs to count time to visit the sick, help the elderly with chores, to visit members in nursing homes.. not have meetings for service on saturday mornings.

Since the Borg is so interested in money why not do the following to keep and gain new members:
In my humble opinion, money is NOT the primary purpose of the WT. I think that exercising power over other people and having people who outside their organization are big fat nobodies, having "prominent" positions as well as the chance to influence other people's lives, is what gives them the real orgasm, not necessarily monetary gain.
Proof of that (to me, I'm keeping this in I statements) is that they do want to make money but discourage their own people from making money and prospering. They do have a stronger take on people's private lives and personal decisions than in controlling people's finances and money. They do not impose their members to give money, but they do impose themselves in every aspect of their lives.

by silentbuddha inanyone here into guns.
i know alot of the euros here hate the idea but i wonder if there are any other members who are collectors or who are into hunting, target shooti g etc.. no shame zone?.
-
scratchme1010
No shame zone, thanks for the note. I'm not into guns, but have a few friends who do and have quite a collection. As I've learned from them I can see how they can get interesting to collect and use (in a fire range, of course). Not my thing, though.

Why do (did) the majority of the general population see the JWS is a decisive fraud ?
by Finkelstein inthe jws /ibsa have been going door to door now for over 100 years in many lands and countries, with numerous pieces of supporting literature counting in the millions.. you would think after all of the publicizing that the jws faith would have grown leaps and bounds but to date the jws has only 8 million following adherents.. other christian based faiths have grown vastly more but never publicly proselytized their faith to the extent the jws have... my basic concise guess is that they see this organization as a bit of commercialized fraud, orchestrated by a religious publishing house namely the watchtower corporation, trying to get people to purchase and read the wts's literature.. and yes the wts did place a set price on its literature including yearly subscriptions.
was it just too obvious ?.
did the wts not think that many people who they called on were from even bigger and older established christian faiths but didn't say or preach what the wts was preaching in their apparent version of the gospel ?.

Was it just too obvious ?
I think it's only part of it. In my experience, the turn-off isn't what they preach and teach; it's precisely the fact that people aren't willing to do the house-to-house thing. I've heard a lot of people stating that they find that religion interesting, but they aren't willing to put up with all the requirements to remain in good standing.
So in my opinion, it's a combination of yes, not liking what they teach, but also not liking what they are expected to do if they join.

Just a LOL at a radio religions pitch
by days of future passed ini put it under the jokes heading because it made me laugh.
sometimes, i don't know why, but i listen to a religious station on the way home from work.
maybe because i just want to roll my eyes over their version of religious interpretation as well as see that they all do the same as the wt.. anyway, this particular preacher was at the end of his program.

What Do You Think of The News Media?
by minimus ini used to pretty much believe anything they would report.
now, though, i find myself questioning “journalists “, with the realization that much of what is said may be inaccurate or slanted..

Well, as people who have been JWs, it should be very familiar to us how you can manipulate facts to make people think what we wanted from them. The news don't lie, but they have way too much "framing" of them, making people biased towards what they interpret of them. They don't necessarily lie, but I find their ways of presenting them to be unethical.
I use the same skills I acquired as a JW to separate facts from opinions.
In USA, news have also become advertising. They show "news" about the new store that has a sale on some product. And that's supposed to be news.
