  Birthday coming soon

  your thoughts on this please.i am asking you coz i can never ever share this with the jdubs.they will want me not to do this as it is "worldy association".

  my birthday is coming soon.this is what i normally have done (not on my birthdays since i was .

  still pimi then) in the past for days/ dates that are close to my heart and special/ even people.

  I do do other things for my neighbors round the street. Quite a few are getting on in years so the best way I think i can help them is by visiting them now and again and just having a cup of tea and chat.Thus I get to know if they need any help and then help them out. I have a small veg garden so I always make sure I take my veg's {cooked or uncooked} to them which is always appreciated.

  Other times I just give them a call to ask if they need anything from the shops (as i am going too),and get it for them. I like to help where ohters get ignored or are not aware perhaps.I am still learning so much too from observing , spending time with them the difficulties,fears they have as they get older. They all know where to find me if they need any help.

  @Biahi I leave the spiritual food to the Jdubs as usual.

  Funeral Fashion

  i have a funeral to attend for a non jw family member and the jdub family member reminded me that i should not wear black.

  for the life of me, i can't recall where this belief came from in jw teachings and i'm born in.

  is there something in print or is that just a personal opinion belief?

  Black is beautiful.

  I have always worn what I like and am comfortable in but always bearing in mind the family of the deceased and the reason I was htere for.. A few times it has been total black and not a peep from anyone even when I was PIMI.Black used to be my favorite color.

  Wear what you are comfortable in.Black is just a color.

  My birthday is coming soon.This is what I normally have done (not on my birthdays since i was

  still PiMi then) in the past for days/ dates that are close to my heart and special/ even people

  who are dear to me but have now passed away. (Sorry for the poor english.) For me personally birthdays do not account that important (have always had this view JW or not.) So this year I am including my birthday in my special day activities list. I have arranged to bake 2 big cake and some muffins,and take it all to an orphanage and share it ;spend half the day with the kids.

  In the afternoon, i will be taking the second cake and muffins to an old age home and spend the afternoon volunteering there.I know quite a few people who work in the orphanage and old age home and who appreciate this help. It gives me so much joy to see the happy faces of young and old alike and I know that thiese actions of mine are 100% selfless acts.

  I do some other things too for other special dates/days depending on what/who it is for.
  

  This is just my way of giving back to the community/society/world.

  Does anyone have any other ideas that I can use?

  I remember when I was PIMI, an old JW guy knocked on the door.When I told him I was one of them, he did not stop there, he continued to do his presentation full throttle and offered a couple of the magazines. Bless him I did not have the heart then to repeat that i am a "sister in the truth".I told him the congregation, elders names etc. No Go so i just took the mags and send him off his way.He was compus-mentus. Dunno why he did that though.

  Serving where the need is great or serving where their needs are great?

  have any of you come across this rare breed of jw?.

  i know a brother who spends 9 months of the year living in a caribbean island where he is an active jw and then he flies back to his home european country for 3 months to work and save up so he can fly back out again.

  he is an active jw in his home country.. he's not a missionary and has never been to gilead though he attended pioneer school back in the '90s.

  I have been one of those, but honest one, devoting quality time wholeheartedly; who pioneered and was learning a foreign language. So the best way is to surround yourself with people who speak the foreign language alone (not mentioning the language coz of identity issues, still kinda PIMO) . I worked for 6months and went for 6 months at a time. it was frugal living but enjoyed every minute of it helping many to come into this cult (unfortunately). Many are pioneers themselves now and are even serving where the need is greater like I used to. Still get emails for tips and suggestions.

  Yes many can be doing this for their own needs as you so mentioned, yet there are those who wholeheartedly give their all for the Lord's work.I personally know quite a few too. It takes all sorts.
