  JWs can toast now….what’s next

  so you can see from multiple topics here (& elsewhere), based on gb update #4, jws now have permission to toast.. there’s been a boatload of “xyz is now allowed” over the past couple of years….beards, no ties in field service or at the kh, sister can wear pants at the kh & in field service…... what do you think is next?.

  a lot of folks are speculating on birthday celebrations being allowed, and i agree that will eventually come, but i don’t think it is next.

  It wouldn't be about much of anything. That's why I threw out the idea of them becoming one of those mega churches that millions of Americans attend. Sermons based on the self-help section at Barnes and Noble, with a scrap of Jesus thrown in.
  
  It's not "about" anything. It's about the curious fact that a lot of people (at least in America) feel some need to feel religious. Or at least appear religious. These places do it with the absolute minimal amount of effort required. Come for an hour at noon on Sunday, hear a band play songs about Jesus and please don't forget to donate on your way out.
  
  I got dragged to one by an aunt and uncle a decade ago. I relented and attended out of sheer curiosity. I have no clue what in the world the audience got from it. It was weird. But they pop up all over. People are strange.

  i have lots of friends who had a new born this year, and they are excited as hell that they have an opportunity to give their children something they themselves didn’t get because their parents were hard-core jehovah's witnesses who refuse to support them in getting a better education to live a better life.. not only will they not raise their children as jehovah's witness, but they now have the opportunity to give their children a better life.

  all my friends are still young, under 24, so they still have time, .

  the "one big beautiful bill" includes a provision for "trump accounts," which will provide a one-time government contribution of $1,000 for every child born between january 1, 2025, and december 31, 2028. parents can also contribute up to $5,000 per year to these accounts.

  I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually went the suburban mega-church route. People show up on sunday in jeans. The speakers are "hip" young guys who give generic pop-psychology advice with some sort of supporting bible verse sprinkled on top to maintain the facade that it's a legit religion instead of a money grift. The music is crappy "Jesus themed" copies of current popular music trends.

  Using the calculator you linked to, the key is the parents putting in the 5K per year. Changing the starting amount from $1000 to $1 doesn't make a significant difference in the end result after 20 years.
  
  People are already free to invest money on behalf of their children. It's not as if young parents have been sitting around with 5K per child just burning a hole in their pockets, waiting on Trump to instruct them what to do with it.

  the overwhelming majority of the early church leaders (fathers) were premillennial and believed in a literal 1000 yr. kingdom.

  today, 2/3 of christians are amillennial.
