  I'm from 1970, generation X also, but in another time frame.

  My parents discussed the 1975 debacle, with family and friends.

  I read the forced "appologize" in the 1980 WT

  My father told me in the early 80's about the Ray Franz news acricle in Times magazine.

  In the 80's we got the you can life forever on a paradise on earth franchise. It was a promiss to good to be true.

  Then the Revelation franchise, WT became more anti gouvernement and anti UN. We studied this book again and again with revisions. For me the first signal that truth could be revised.

  Then the book about Religions came and we did not study it. Questions raised about this.

  The 1995 generation change was my loyality Waterloo.

  The Daniel fantasy book was for me proof they made the theology up.

  The JW Media office, the Stamd Firm and the political connections of European Association of JW, the France JW organization Aid Afrique and the JW Survivor Fund and the works of JW researcher Johannes Wrobel opened my eyes about relations with the outside world.

  Had contact with an University professor. He was invited by jw.org over the years for advise.

  The sell of the Brooklyn property.

  The UN scandal.

  The change to family night.

  The Beard, woman trouser and exit of field service report.

  The change of disfellowship.

  The exit of Morris III

  The overlapping generations.

  Over all these years, what a circus, what a clowns and what a rollercoaster.

  Since 2008 pomo, feeling better then ever and saved our children for the sect dangers.

  Would you be able to survive a three day Assembly?

  the last assembly i attended was over 10 years ago.

  the monotone speakers, boring talks, uncomfortable seats, long prayers and nodding off after the lunch break did me in.

  i survived the morning sessions, but the afternoon sessions were brutal.

  The last convention we attended, an international convention in our country, with 40k+ attending, was so full of Safety hazards with lack of crowd control, that opened the eyes of my wife, about "what are we doing here?".

  It was our last convention.

  We were invited for the one day Steven Lett clowns act in Amsterdam this year by our family but we refused because of the Safety issues.

  Did your witness family have a 'Thanksgiving' that wasn't on Thanksgiving?

  my family had several elders, ministerial servants, auxillary pioneers etc, so it certainly wasn't one of those 'barely in' families.

  but in certain small ways, i think mine were slightly less hard line than some other families i've heard stories about over the years.

  one example was the 'fall dinner'.

  Here in Holland most jw's miss a meeting because of Kings-day.

  Lot of organized activity.

  We visited with many jw friends the Amsterdam city center for.a.whole day of festivals.

  Was accepted in the hall,.even ms.and elders were missing at the meeting

  @notformer, what I remember is that our JW group was not so emotional like jw's these times.

  We were young, made fun and adventure. A flash and thunder more or less, we were not impressed.

  Now many jw's are "full enthousiast" if something happens.

  I remember the closing prayer of president Milton Henschell at the international convention in Moscow, 12 minutes.

  During his speech that day there was a flash and thunder just when he read a bible text about thunder. Will never forget that.

  Just like a higher power was playing with the event.

  What would happen to a JW for celebrating Christmas?
