Introduction - Any Believers?
by Believer iniβve been reading it for a few of years off and on, but have been a little too ... maybe ... timid to join.
i left the watchtower organization almost 20 years ago but never abandoned my faith and belief in god.
i knew the gb/organization didnβt represent god, so when i lost my faith in them, i managed to keep my faith in an all wise benevolent creator.

From yesterday WT, don't have kids and if you do then don't see them often nor the grandkids either
by purrpurr inunbelievable paragraph in yesterday's watchtower was "encouraging" the sheep to not have kids.
most of their growth comes from the born ins and they are still on about not having kids?.
then it went on to "encourage" those that do have kids or grandkids not to spend to much time with them and instead to spend their time serving kingdom interests!.

The gb are using old tactics, regardless of double talk, due to the fact that a new generation of "Armageddon is around the corner" has arisen. They must continue this idea of "urgency". Thus all of the generation talk, bunker videos, and so on. They know that based on the past, enough will have children to perhaps continue the money flow.
What is sad, and I hope this is not the case, is that some younger ones will have the same attitude many of us had. Namely, this time things are different. 1914,1975, the generation of 1914 are all forgotten. I was thinking that even the generation of 1914 garbage was changed over twenty years ago. That is a long time ago to someone perhaps twenty-five years of age. "This time they got it right." π

The bigger picture
by Freeandclear ini've been awake now for a good while.
about a year.
in that year i've done a lot of soul searching and thinking about god and religion etc.... as i'm sure most all of us have who've left this cult.

What you said is in perfect harmony with the Bible.
"If the dead are not raised, then "let us eat and drink, for tommorrow we shall die." - 1 Corinthians: 15: 32

Thanks for the Help
by TheLiberator inall of us think differently.

some are more philosophers.

All of us think differently. You could say, some are rocket scientists and math mathematicians. Some are more philosophers. Others are perhaps light hearted and social and could careless about the function of a cell.
Personally, I am in between "light science" and philosophical. There are those that read and remember every detail. But some are like me. For example, I may make a purchase after studying to death Consumer Report , but if you ask me later why I bought that item, I might give you a couple of reasons, but for the most part, I just know that I made the right choice. I may not recall many of the reasons I purchased it.
My point? At times, some demand proof and detail of a subject that perhaps is meticulous. I certainly can't remember every detail. I just know that in the end I made the right choice for me based on evidence. I certainly don't have time to repeat research that I have already done in full measure.
And so I just want to thank all those who are not like me, and who express the thoughts I want to share. I would list names, but I am afraid I would miss someone. All of you are like good lawyers. You actually defend me, and I really feel that way. When I read your posts and replys, I think, "Yeah, that's the way to word it". So thanks again. Keep up the good work!

Confusing Opinions with Facts
by cofty inin a discussion about the best flavour of ice cream everybody's opinion is equally valid.. in a discussion about the shape of the earth or the origin of species everybody's opinion is equally irrelevant.
only objective facts and evidence matter.. confusing these two categories is a common feature of conversations in this forum.
people deserve respect, errors do not..

The last video in the 2016 convention...
by problemaddict 2 in...is an epic triumph is emotional manipulation.
bringing together all of the stories they told thus far and placing them int he "new world" complete with the little boy who was killed in a car accident coming back from the dead.. i have a good friend who is stuck in with family and plays the role.
he said everyone was crying, and the people next to him rated the videos by how many tissues they needed to dry their eyes.

Agree 100% with Daniel1555.
I suspended my disbelief for the moment. I could imagine myself in the organization and getting caught up in it. It is sad, but for a few moments I could imagine the good feeling I would of had, had I not known TTATT. I have to admit, it was a secure feeling in the Watchtower. Sorry guys, this will not wake people up. It will simply reinforce. It would of never woke me up. In fact, it would have excited me and made me sad that the last day of the convention has arrived. π’π’

Challenge to Creationists
by cofty inin response to the 37 threads in my evolution is a fact series - see bottom of op for links - perry posted a link to an article "44 reasons why evolution isn't true".. i offered him a challenge on the thread and by pm.
predictably he is totally ignoring it, so i am offering the challenge to any evolution-denier who thinks they have evidence to support their position.. please present one specific piece of evidence for creationism.. my task will be to refute it with evidence within 24 hours.. then i will present one piece of evidence for evolution and your challenge will be the same.. all posts must be as succinct as reasonably possible.
entirely in your own words, without copy-paste, videos or links.. please post your interest to take part and we will set it up before the first actual post in the exchange.

I need to add another thought. Why challenge people here? Is this a school lesson on how not to cut and paste and put into our own words? Isn't that what we were told to do in school to show we understood something? We are beyond that now. You can find counter arguments on all popular websites that are anti-evolution. No need for a challenge. Just like you, we will just rehash what others say. Why not write a letter to those sites. Just pretend you are sincere and want to believe in a creator but you are having trouble understanding this or that. (Like many of us did when discovering TTATT). And no, I am not joking.

Cofty. You and I know, that in the Watchtower we could slaughter (figuratively) ANYONE who dared rise against us with our Bibles. We had scripture and proof to destroy. I never lost a single argument when it came to the Bible. NOT ONE. I was willing to challenge the pope with no fear. Sort of like Russell was with clergy. I had a full grasp of Watchtower doctrine. All I ever did was study. The average person would not have the same amount of knowledge.
Thus, I would have them in tears. In fact, in high school, one individual actually took out a pencil and scribbled a scripture out in his Bible, and said, "It's not there now."
True, some of my reasoning was weak (just like your testicle story) , but overall very few could "prove" me wrong. What is my point? ALL THE CRAP I PROVED, WAS FALSE. Of course you will win the debate, in your own mind. But the believer in creation will win in there mind as well.
Bottom line: EVOLUTIONIST'S EYES ARE BROWN BECAUSE THEY ARE FULL OF CRAP JUST LIKE I WAS, WHEN I COULD PROVE EVERYTHING I BELIEVED IN THE WATCHTOWER.

Evolution is a Fact #37 - Testicles

Vidqun is right. To call something a flaw is presumptuous. Proof of evolution? That is why I call it desperate. It is laughable. Reminds me of American cars vs foreign. American cars are many times easier to repair than say a Toyota or a Mazda.
Why on planet earth would someone put the spark plugs behind the front wheel on the driver's side of my son's Mazda? Seems stupid to me. But if you ask the maker he will explain exactly why. And your ignorance will shine. The Mazda still had a creator. So this whole testicle nonsense is just absurd.
βFor the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.ββ2 Timothy 4: 3β 4,
