I was a bright eyed 20 yr old Reg Pioneer in '95. The 1914 generation teaching was one of the biggest reasons why I started pioneering right out of HS instead of going to college. Nobody talks about it anymore, the overlapping gen teaching is an insult to our intelligence, so people don't even discuss it. This one teaching has affected the lives of millions and the WT doesn't even have the guts to own up to it and admit they got it all wrong.

Another generation....
by joey jojo init has been 21 years since the 1995 article that pretty much buried the idea of the '1914 generation'.. remember those guys?
the ones born in 1914 that would still be alive when the end of the system arrived.. i'm glad i'm old enough to remember going from door to door, preaching this belief.
the reason i say that is because i have a lot of 'still in' jw friends and family.

To those who attended, attendance up or down at your memorial?
by Crazyguy ininteresting to see if there's a noticeable trend in memorial attendance.
also did they talk more then usual about ones not to partake?

Down by about 20 or so...
most of the non JWs that come are family members of JW's or former bible studies, there isn't really much new blood.

Question for those still attending the Kingdom Hall
by ToesUp inthis a question more out of curiosity, because we have not stepped foot in a kh in 3 years.. how is the attendance at the meetings/assemblies?
i know the answer will vary due to location.. are you (especially elders) receiving any notification or communication from bethel or co's that there is an upsurge of people that are simply disappearing or out right dis associating?.
thanks, in advance, for your feedback!

I started noticing, even before waking up, that baptisms at cc had declined a great deal. We used to have 25-30 per convention now is more like 6-7, and they're mostly children of Jdubs. I'm in the Spanish speaking circuit, where we had rapid growth about 15-20 years ago, not the case anymore, there has not been a new cong in our area in the last 10 years.

thank you, @Peony. :)
I feel so much better now, the FOG is mostly gone. I still struggle with the "obligation" part of it. JW life is all I've known, it's second nature to do all the JW routines.

I also have days when I feel that it might be to late to leave @Doubtfully Yours.
I started to remove the blinders only a few months ago, it all started with the ARC, after that I read COC and all the cards came down after that.

Hello everybody!
I finally had the guts to create a profile to be able to post. I've been lurking for a few months and have read all your experiences and comments dutifully. You have been a great help in my process of waking up from this cult posing as the one true religion. I thank you for openly and honestly sharing your experiences, I'm grateful for all of you, you have been a blessing ;)
I'm still physically in for family reasons, but I think everyday about the day I get to be out completely. I have been raised in the "truth" since the age of 6, I'm 42 now. I feel like the best part of my youth/life has been wasted. I started regular pioneering right out of high school, this was in the mid '90's when the end 'had already turned the corner'. Needless to say that process of waking up has not been easy, I'm doing much better now, but the WT has done a number on me and I know I still have a long road ahead.

When JW TV first came out, we had a CO who actually said from the stage, that we don't need cable tv now. -

Only a few days ago I was entirely lost and without hope the rug was pulled out from under me
by elderess inonly a few days ago i was walking around the house in a mindless wander thinking if i needed to seek professional help.
then i got the courage to seek the comfort of complete strangers on the internet and found a world of support here on this website.
thank you simon and whoever else has made this website possible.

I signed up after months of lurking after reading this amazing experience. Much better than anything I ever read in a yearbook ;) I find your strength inspiring. I've only been awoken for a few months, although I always had nagging doubts that I pushed to the side. I wish you much success in your fade and I can't wait to read more about your life as an elderess.
