A few thoughts.
by The_Bad_Seed ini see that this board/forum has many serious, and what i consider to be meritous posters, that can usually be found dispelling the wtbts shyte.
since my foul arrival here in may, i have read and taken in volumes of great information from this site and it's links, which would have proved (and are) extremely helpful, and valuable to me had i felt the need for justification in my decision to leave the borg in the first place.
i saw the holes, the self preservative techniques, the speculations, the stupid protocols, the 'prophecies' that had outlived their shelf lives, and simply walked away, never really having looked back, always having felt justified because it just didn't feel right to me.

I see that this board/forum has many serious, and what I consider to be meritous posters, that can usually be found dispelling the WTBTS shyte. While I do enjoy reading your posts, or discussions with friends, chatters, and XJW's alike - at this point in my life, I really don't feel the need to constantly come up with reasons, or dig up proof as to why or what the WTBTS has written is trash, when it's very obvious to me that everything they have, or ever will write is just that. I do know and understand that many of you come here to fellowship, and/or to just be plain informed as to the goings-on within the confines of the former stupid world that had been such a large part of your life.
I am in no way passing judgement on any posters here, but in my opinion, feel that if I always found myself campaigning against what the Watchtower writes or does in any way, I wouldn't be able to feel, or consider myself freed of the Borg, or even free at all. There would still be that smelly attachment, where I would either still be trying to make myself, or others feel justified in their decisions.
I recognize and admire what many of you try to do, and are doing -- that is, helping others make their transitions easier where many of you had no help at all, be it by means of moral support, or just plain old information. My stay here has been short and rocky, but ultimately enjoyable. I will continue to paruse the board for news, Borg related or non, and chat with the odd person I have come to know and respect. No more Random Chat Logs, or marshmallow attacks on JANH. This I promise.

This year the shower peaks on August 12th and 13th. Experts say it should be remarkably good. The Perseids have been strong in recent years--a promising sign for 2002. And the moon sets early in mid-August; lunar interference will not be a problem. Sky watchers can expect to see dozens to hundreds of meteors per hour.Perseid meteors come from comet Swift-Tuttle. Every 130 years, the comet swoops in from deep space (beyond Pluto) and plunges through the plane of the solar system not far from Earth's orbit. Astronomers once worried that Swift-Tuttle might hit our planet, but recent data and calculations show otherwise. There's no danger of a collision for at least a millenium and probably much longer.
Even so, little pieces of Swift-Tuttle do hit Earth. The comet's orbit is littered with bits of dusty debris. They bubble away from the comet's icy nucleus (propelled by evaporating ice) when Swift-Tuttle nears the Sun. These grains form a cloud that we plow through once a year.
We're entering the outskirts of that cloud now (late July). Every hour, one or two meteors are streaking across the sky. It's the slow beginning of the Perseids.
Left : Bits of comet dust, like this one captured in Earth's stratosphere, are tiny and fragile. [more]
Perseid dust particles are tiny, most no bigger than grains of sand. Yet they travel very fast--about 132,000 mph (59 km/s). Even a tiny dust speck can become a brilliant meteor when it hits the atmosphere at that speed. There's no danger to sky watchers, though. The fragile grains disintegrate long before they reach the ground.
Because of the way the comet's orbit is tilted, dust from Swift-Tuttle falls on Earth's northern hemisphere. Viewed from Earth's surface, the meteors appear to flow from the constellation Perseus (hence the name Perseids). Perseus is easy to spot from Europe and North America, but it barely peeps abovethe horizon of, e.g., Australia and New Zealand. Southern hemisphere sky watchers will see very few Perseids.
The following is true no matter where you live: The best time to look for meteors is when Perseus is highest in the sky--between 2 a.m. and dawn. On August 12th, set your alarm for 2 o'clock in the morning. Go outside; lie down on a sleeping bag or a reclining lawn chair with your toes pointed northeast; and gaze upward. Soon you'll see shooting stars racing along the Milky Way.
Repeat the procedure on August 13th. The shower's peak is long-lasting, and you're likely to count plenty of meteors on both days. (The shower is expected to crest on August 12th during a 12 hour period centered on 2200 Universal Time. Dawn on August 13th would therefore be best for Europeans. Dawn on either day could be good for North Americans.)

WHAT"S THE FUNNIEST THING YOU'VE SEEN???
by minimus ini remember years ago after giving a public talk, the sister who was playing the piano had to rush to the front of the hall to get ready to play the opening song for the watchtower study.
what she didn't realize was that her dress was neatly tucked in to her pantyhose for all to see, since she had just come out of the bathroom.
the attendant was trying to literally run behind her to tell her of what she was exposing, but couldn't keep up with her.

An older brother in our hall gave some lame demostration with a lampshade and a lit oil lamp, ended up burning the shade to fine ash in an attempt to show us the effects that Satans world would have on our spirituality, in times of weakness.
Another brother was about to give the #4 talk on masturbation. Simply stood facing the audience, and in embarassment, stated that "he just couldn't do this", walked off the stage, and went home.

Johos!
They climb your stairs,
They come in pairs,
They make a knockity sound,
The end! The end! The end! The end they defend,
This time will get no extensions...
They're Johos!
They're Johos!
Their message of import is clear:
That we'll live for sixty more years!
