we all know that jws consider the wt religion to be "the truth" and refer to it as such.. granted, that phrase is used repeatedly in the literature and from the platform.. but it's obvious that much of what the organization used to require jws to teach house-to-house as important truths--even within our own lifetimes--has been abandoned.

it's been replaced by "new light" and "refined understanding.

what's meant by "the 1914 generation" is a prime example.. in fact, i think it would be hard to find another religion that has changed so many of its teachings, especially in such a short period of time.. so why do jws still believe their religion to be "the truth"?.

How do they know their religion is “the truth”? Because the GB says it is, and we can trust them, because Jehovah and Jesus trusts them, too. 😂

Which of you readers are being shunned by their relatives / friends ?

a simple " me" if you dont want to say more--or a short explanation about who is shunning you and how long has this been going on.. i'll set the ball rolling: my daughter--her husband and children; my younger son --no contact from them for 40 years...because i left their religion.. (edit--i just noticed the typo in the header--if should be of ).

I had been very close to my one aunt (I have 2), and when I stopped attending, this aunt gave me 2 magazines, and asked me to read them, kindly. I handed them back to her, and kindly told her I would take these magazines, if she did 3 things for me. Read the 1972 WT, article entitled, “ They Shall Know a Prophet was among Them.” (1). Identify the prophet (2). And then read Deuteronomy 18:20-22 (3). She wrote this down. I then told her that this was not “apostate” literature, only their own publications and the Bible. About a week later, she wrote me a letter, telling me she would not bring me any more literature. And the shunning began. However, when I’m at a family function, wedding, funeral, etc. she does give me a hug and say hi. If she would totally ghost me, it would be a bad witness, since the ‘worldly’ relatives would notice.

Watchtower looses Norwegian Appeal

watchtower has just lost its appeal in the norwegian courts over the withdrawal of the funding it receives from the government as an officially recognised religion.

the initial decision will now stand due to what the court termed 'exclusionary practices' which includes the witnesses barbaric practice of shunning minors, even by family members in their own homes.

the ministry of children and families have decided they are now no longer eligible for the state grant of 16 million norwegian kroner given to officially recognised religions.. the following is a statement has been issued, i have summarised if it isn't readable: .

Rattigan, I had to respond to your post. I consider myself liberal, socially anyway, and when I was pregnant, 30 years ago, the Dr. asked me if I had a boy, did I want him circumcised. I blurted right out, without thinking, “Of course, when he gets older no one will want to put their mouth on it if it isn’t.” He smiled, and marked his chart. Btw, I’m American, and most men are circumcised here, even though there’s a few semi-nut jobs that don’t like it. I knew a German sister, about 35 years ago, whose unbelieving husband would not let their boy get circumcised. This boy was begging his mother (he was 14) to take him to the Dr. for this. His father forbade it, but the boy had to shower daily in gym class, and the other boys made fun of him.
