  the most cited reason was “napping or talking during congregations.” others included “answering back to parents” and “playing with a schoolmate.”.

  some respondents said they have been suffering depression as a result of whipping.. “i still cannot forget the sight of children screaming after they were taken into a large room at a congregation when i was a child,” a 44-year-old victim said, stressing that jehovah’s witnesses should reflect on what followers have done.. in february, a group of lawyers started supporting those second-generation followers.. in a statement issued on march 1, the japanese branch of jehovah’s witness said it does not accept child abuse.. https://mainichi.jp/english/articles/20230315/p2a/00m/0na/006000c.

  What novels would you recommend?

  i used to have a large-ish novel collection but my current collection is scaled-down because i was forced to move back to bolton 4 years ago and didn't have enough room for them all in my suitcases.. i currently own just 9 novels.. salem's lot (stephen king).

  I recommend The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, and The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood. 2 of my personal favorites.

  the org is always so late.

  i remember the last in person meetings before went to zoom, none of us were wearing facemasks and i thought why is the org so late with this.

  they just announced older ones shouldn’t come but most large organisations had already stopped in person.

  kingdom halls will be the thing of the past.. conventions (mini assembly halls will still be going on) but will charge for attending and parking and always a donation.

  elders will play a much smaller role since csa.

  cart preaching will replace door to door.

  i remember years ago hearing an audio recording online of a district overseer talk regarding 1975. he said something along the lines of “allow me to put my notes aside” and then went off about how the end was coming in 1975. does anyone remember this?

  or know where i can find a recording of this talk?.

  Dreading the memorial

  hey.

  does anyone else dread attending (in person or on zoom) the memorial months in advance?.

  literally as soon as new year hits, i feel sick and super anxious, and i've realised it's because of the memorial, which i only attend because of family, who kinda tell me the reason they have bad health is cuz i left the jw sevel years ago..

  I’m just glad they aren’t really running a country, it would be a spiritual North Korea, with beatings, stonings, etc. If they had REAL power, they could damage a lot of people. Similar to living under the Taliban.

  this afternoon i drove by an old hall i attended ( barrington illinois) and noticed that it had been sold, it is now an adventist .

  church !

  now here is my drive-home thinking.. back in the 80's when i attended i was newly married, and had a young child.
