  i believe an an elder told someone who's daughter (14 yo) became sexually active with a 26 year old in the neighborhood, that maybe they should get married.

  so, they did... with parental consent.

  he turned out to be a ex-convict who shot his first wife in the face with a shotgun.

  It is true, they have no business baptizing minors, but if they stop doing it, baptisms will drop down to near zero. And they will have lost their ability to ‘trap’ yang wans. Perhaps if they separated baptism with membership, which they would need to “officially join”, in adulthood. I got baptized in a Christian church, and I was not a member until, much later, I filled out a church form, requesting membership. Basically, the form was simple, just name, address, name of spouse and children. Then the form asked if I had accepted Christ as my personal savior. I answered yes. The following Sunday, the pastor indicated to everyone there that I had requested church membership. He asked the congregation to accept me as a member with a hearty “AMEN”. They did.

  on april the 9th the french senate passed a new "anti-cult" law that will basically strengthen the hands of miviludes, the french agency, the official anti-cult agency that is cracking down on dangerous cults.

  as your family considers its disaster preparedness plan, please ensure that the secretary has up-to-date contact information for you and your emergency contact.

  also, we have re- peatedly seen good results when brothers and sisters are prepared with go bags and are ready to obey direction when they face various kinds of disasters.

  please be sure you have a go bag, and review its contents at least once a year.

  Hoser, I noticed you mentioned having $2000 in cash on hand, in case of emergency. I recently saw on the news that 47% of Americans couldn’t come up with $400 if they had an emergency. I’m sure many witnesses fit that category. I personally wouldn’t want to keep that much cash in my house, but that’s just me.

  This was only ONE among many embarrassing moments during my JW childhood. I told my mom once, that if I said the Pledge, she would not know, because she isn’t at school with me. My mom told me that Jehovah sees me and he will kill me at Armageddon if I say the pledge. I felt between a rock and a hard place. Same thing with the National Anthem. No wonder I’m messed up.
