  every once in a while you hear people say they actually “miss” their old witness friends and or family.

  some would have even stayed in the organization if they became a bit more liberal and open minded.

  currently reading : 30 years a watchtower slave.

  cannot put it down.. this book pre-dates ray franz book "crisis of conscience", written from early 20th century, shortly after the jehovah's witnesses were formed.

  the author describes the original true background of the watchtower society as a multi-million dollar publishing company.

  when the doctrine regarding 1935 being the close of the calling was done away with in 2007, it was not unexpected to see the number rise.

  over the next few years it went from around 8,500 to 10,500. this seemed to indicate that there were a couple of thousand people that may have felt they had the calling all along, but too shy to profess it.

  for the 30 year period between the mid 1978 and 2007, parktakers had barely dropped.

  in the latest edition of jw boradcasting they were telling you of a huge new complex they will be building these next few years.it will be as big as warwick and only a few miles away,they will make a lot of the films and videos there and 100s of people will live there as well .

  They love to keep selling to the indoctrinated JWs that all who left are miserable, in jail, in prison,, alcoholics, drug addicts, etc. We had one kid leave cross county on his 18th birthday. Few months later, elders passed the rumor that he was in prison for selling cocaine! Totally non true, as I found out contacting him on social media.

  After the death of a spouse, how long did people wait to get remarried?

  i was on the phone with a long-time friend from my original congregation north of new york city and she told me that the 'shit hit the fan' when a brother (long-time elder i know well) got remarried about 6 weeks after his wife died.. he was about 60 and his new wife (a pioneer that i also know) was about 50 and had never been married.. it became a huge issue when the co came.

  due to all the talk and chatter in the congregation, he even included in one of his talks without naming names, that marriage is something sacred and that when and how people get married is a personal matter as long as it conforms to bible standards.. anyway, it shut everybody up.

  any similar experiences in your current/former congregations?.

  My mom has been widowed over 25 years...never looked for anyone else, I think she wants my dad back in the ‘new system’. I remember, about 20 years ago, some ‘brother’ came by her house twice to bring her flowers. She was in her late sixties, this guy was in his forties. When my mom said she wasn’t interested, he stopped, a month later he was married to another widow much older than him. He was on ‘disability’ and wanted a widow with a house and money. I guess he didn’t like to work.😏
