the new testament states that a warrant was issued for the arrest of jesus and that judas was the man that turned him in.. this warrant would have carried a description of the man that called himself the king of the jews, however this description did not find it's way into the bible.. this seem's a bit odd in particular since after all it would be interesting to know what the messiah really looked like.. i mean, think about it, if you had the chance to record the events of a man of such importance would you not include a description of his image?.
the appearance of jesus has been a subject of disscusion amongst many jw's (and other christians aswell i'm sure) and i remember many such occassions when the topic was being discussed and needles to say the opinions on this matter differed greatly.. the one opinion however that usually prevailed was that of a strong well built man, after all he was a carpenter etc.... as i said there is no such description in the bible, however, it was reported by josephus in his "capture of jerusalem".. now, i don't know whether this report is a genuine one or not, maybe jh can throw some light on that, but a copy of josephus description has survived in slavonic texts and it paints a picture quite at odds with the image many people have painted for themselves:.
'...a man of simple appearance, mature age, dark skin, small stature, three cubits high, hunchbacked with a long face, long nose, and meeting eyebrows, so that they who see him might be affrighted, with scanty hair with a parting in the middle of his head, after the manner of the nazarites, and with an undeveloped beard.'.

Holy schmozzle! this sounds more like Quasimodo than Jesus.
Three cubits would put Jesus under four foot six, could this really be accurate?
According to the Acts of John (excluded from the Bible) it say's of Jesus:
'...I was afraid and cried out, and he, turning about, appeared as a man of small stature...'
Luke 19:3 tells about when Zaccheus tried to spot Quasi.. hmm.. Jesus in a crowd but he couldn't because someone was of low stature:
'...And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and he could not for the crowd, because he was of low stature.'
Now whether that was zaccheus or Jesus with a low stature I don't know you have to make up your own mind on that one.
In light of this maybe a reading of Isiah 53 would confirm that Jesus indeed was of the "quasimodo type class", in my own humble opinion he would need to be to fulfill the prophesy.

Hi Jan,
I don't really know or care as to whether or not these guy's are scholars or not it is not the point. The point is there's a book written and it should be judged on it's merits, it's as simple as that. I have been blown away by this book because it is unassuming and factual to my eyes (wich incidentely does not mean squat :) ). The thing that would ultimately prove or disprove their theory beyond doubt would be excavating Rosslyn Chapel and from what I understand that's not too far away, so obviously someone is taking these guy's seriously. If they find what they are seeking time will tell and in the meantime a bit of caution as you say doesn't go astray.
Maybe it's worth noting that ultrasound groundscans of rosslyn have revealed cavities underneath so who knows maybe they are just empty or we have the find of the millenium.

Are the scrolls containing the secret teachings of Jesus buried in scotland? The discovery that the most important incantation of freemasonry is spoken in ancient egyptian was the turning point of a six year quest to find the lost roots of the order. Chris Knight and Robert Lomas, both freemasons, soon found themselves unravelling an extraordinary chain of events that started with the solving of a murder in ancient Thebes and concluded with the deciphering of a strange medieval building on a Scottish hilltop. The Hiram key raises questions that challange some of western civilization's most cherished beliefs:
Do the gospels of the new testament describe Jesus, the last claimant to the kingship of the Jews, practising the king-making rituals of the ancient Egyptians?
Were scrolls bearing secret teachings of Jesus buried beneath Herods temple shortly before the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70AD?
Did the Knights Templar, the forerunners of modern freemasonry, excavate those scrolls in the twelfth century and then adopt the rituals they contained?
And were those scrolls subsequently buried underneath a detailed reconstruction of Herod's Temple, on a Scottish hilltop - where they are now awaiting re-excavation?
At first I thought this was just another one of the many slightly luny theories out there. However, the book is very factual and presents some very convincing evidence for the theory so much so that there is real talk of excavating Rosslyn Chapel. It is a must read that will simply blow you away.

jehovahs witnesses are lovely people, i should know - i officially still am one ... but ... although their great cult leader, judge joseph rutherford, banned them from taking part in the evil pagan celebrations of birthdays and such, there is one ceremony that is ridgedly and solemly adhered to.
the anual celebration of the "lords evening meal".
as most here are aware, each nissan14, kingdom halls around the world are packed to the collection boxes with the 'happiest people on earth'.
Hi UB,
Good post but know you've made it difficult for me.
I got invited the other day to the memorial and I don't want take part in any satanic ritual so, oh I know all I have to do is take it eat it and drink it and 3 2 1 I'll be the topic of every discussion for the rest of the year. :)

do you believe in reincarnation?.
i dont think i believe in it in the same way that most believers do, which is that we keep coming back in different fleshly bodies until we have achieved perfection.. i do, however, strongly suspect that we may well be spirit creatures who find it necessary to inhabit a fleshly body from time to time, and that this entails us having to leave behind most of our past memories.. i say most memories, because many people seem to have some vestigal recollections that don`t seem to fit in with earthly experiences.. i`m pretty sure that i chose my parents!
i have a recollection of being shown a young and kind couple through some form of astral telescope and choosing to become their son.
Hi E-man,
I do believe in incarnation but in a very different way.
To me it's genes inherited from two parents who in their turn inherited genes from their's, I believe it is as simple as that.
As for our senses we use five mainly but possess six and that's the one giving us gut feelings and such.
I think at the stage in human development where speech was still something to be mastered this sixth sense was in full operation sadly now that we can communicate via speech this ability to communicate via different means is nearly gone however a lot of people sense it's still there. I also think it is the same sense that makes people feel a "spiritual connection" although I fear it is mostly miss-understood by the experiencer. I could ramble on about this one and I have done so before but in the end it is only my views and I am certainly no authority on the subject.

you said, "so would it be wrong to accept the fact that the wts, despite its flaws, has many good scriptural truths to share.".
i think most of us accept that the wts has done some good, but as the years pass, i find that the good i thought they did is getting less and less, and more importantly, the harm caused is getting greater than i could possibly imagine.. you continued, "can we reject what they have pressed to the world: god has a name, his kingdom is to solve mans problems, the earth is to become a paradise as god purposed, man will live endlessly on earth as intended, those who died will return in a resurrection of the dead rather that burn in hell, and this good news is to be preached in all the earth.".
at this point in my life, after 25 years of being a jw and now an ex-jw, i find their message, its very root concepts, pure fantasy that may not necessarily god's will.
WOW, Amazing you just blew me away that was a great post, thanks.
I always used to think that God's kingdom was within us and although I am not exactly a christian anymore, I still believe that it is within ourself's that we find God. Another place to find God that I've found is nature, just step outside and enjoy.
