Should I be doing more?

he said that it's great that i'm now out but that i have 'dues to pay' to those whom i have disfellowshipped and talked out of going to college while serving as an elder.
while serving as an elder i did share in disfellowshipping several members of the congregation, many of whom are still out there being shunned by family and friends.

Only problem is, I am in the "control group" myself ..........
And have started on a couple of university level courses, and "finished them successfully", after becoming a "cult member" without anyone ever raising eyebrows. I have completed my BA after I joined - no problem. I take an additional language university level subject now - no problem.
If someone asks me - my reply will be, "go ahead!"
To my children, it has been, "go ahead! - there is always need for someone with a good education, and if you're lucky, you'll manage to find that rare space for yourself where there are not so many others."
So this control group guy refuses to control, but leaves it to each and everyone.
There ARE no unwritten laws or "lean-on's". If it is not written, they don't exist - UNLESS YOU ALLOW THEM TO EXIST. Say "No!" and take it to the end, and you'll see taht you are the winner, because what is not written, does not exist. -

Nobel Peace Price Year 2001
by TheOldHippie inthe nobel peace price for the year 2001 was given with one half to the united nations organization and the other half to its general secretary kofi annan.. too bad the watchtower is not associated with the uno for example thru ngo and dpi - if they were, they would have received part of the glory ..................... now how's that for a timing?

There were bright young children who's futures would have been entirely different had they gone to college and gotten a degree.

If you councelled young children not to go to college, then you went way further than what you were "allowed" or "supposed" to do, as that is entirely the decision of the person in question him-/herself. I fear I see once again the taking out on the organization to which one once belonged, the errors one made as an individual when one was stretching beyond what one was supposed to do.
OK, come on, strangle me as you use to do once I dare to utter something impopular with you guys ........... -

AlanF, Norm and Patriot, old friends - OK, I'll be out for breakfast for a while (as lunch is way too early, considering the time difference), since you feel I need it. Sorry, Patriot, I never had a Harley (but I DID have a MC accident - on a MotoGuzzi, though ......), and I DID ride one, at 110 mph on a German freeway. But then, neither did John Kay of Steppenwolf ("Born to be wild") have one either, as he cannot drive due to his semi-blindness.
What do I feel (apart from seeing that I offended someone)? I feel that if one has a case and if one manages to put it into "good wording", to state the important things of the matter accurately and is brave and knows where to give and where to slack and where to take, and understands there is no police in the world, then one can create for oneself space enough to LIVE. -

MAJOR MAJOR UN/WTS NEWS - PART 2 - BREAKING HARD

i just talked to paul hoeffel 1:35pm - he phoned me.. okay people.
i can now confirm that the watchtower has provided a letter in writing to dpi indicating that the wts has "disassociated" themselves from dpi - ie the wts has made it offical that they have quit.. i can also confirm that the wts has been updating dpi regularily as they are suppose to over the last 10 years.. i can also can say that something is in the works that i can disclose by hopeflly tomorrow.

But I don't see what the present anger is all about? OK, you were angry they were associated with the DPI/NGO, I can see that, and I have written and asked about that myself. But now they have disassociated themselves, is that wrong too? Is it wrong to be a member and not any more to be a member?
In my eyes, all what this shows is that it is not the top-downwards organization which you want it to be, but it is a bottom-upwards organization, a grassroots organization, because it is so very sensitive to what the membership and surroundings think, that it changes according to pressure. Is that wrong too? Is it wrong to change and not to change also? -

Well, here's the idiot, the stupid one, the one not understanding anything, the one who is utterly stupid and ignorant at everything. I HAVE written just now, as I have written at many occations before, and will continue to do, and I have received replies over the years, none of which have included something for which I would have to fear, as you imply. Neither, I am sure, will this one. That's what I meant. If you wonder about the UN thing, then write and ask. Then you'll get a reply to which you may respond.
I am having a life, and contrary to what you think, I also make use of the stuff between my ears. But I DO dislike the yelling and shouting and screaming, all of which makes a sensible discussion so impossible. And I DO dislike people using as basis for their world outlook a couple of unhappy experiences, from where they deduct that the entire organization is like that one person they have had problems with.
We are all different, we all react differently, but there is no very, very little room for nuances here that all I feel like doing is joining the yelling group myself. -

the internet vendor, bethel antiquarian books, publishes a price list of old and rare wt publications, not a few of which cost several hundreds of dollars.. my question is on the strength of demand for such material: who buys these things for such prices, and who sorts out the relative scarcity of each so as to establish a fair market value?
i would love to have a copy of the 1934 yearbook with rutherford's embarassing declaration to hitler, but gag at paying $300 for one.

Why pay 300$ when they go for 1/10 of that at eBay? A bit of patience, snd lurking at exactly the right time - and voila! great deals can be done.
