When he says, "not for creationists like you", isn't it HE who is wrong? JWs are not creationists. -

Protect governing body with your life
by Zoos inthere was a quote in the literature some years back about protecting the governing body from secular authorities and insinuated that we should do whatever it took to insure their safety.. i seem to remember it was something about refusing to help the authorities locate the governing body.
i may be off track here.
if this is familiar to you could you please help me find the quote?.

Since there is a death penalty for a Moslem leaving Islam and becoming Christian, and there have been attacks on JWs, it is no wonder. In Moslem countries where JWs are allowed to work, they preach to members of other Christian denominations. If a Moslem should be interested, the solution is to travel to Lebanon, as conditions are more relaxed there and they can be baptised as JWs there. -

Changing images
by maisha inawhile ago i was mentioning how many of the images in watchtowers last year were containing addins with skulls, demon like faces and blatant illuminiti imagery.
i recently went into the download sites again to grab some of those images and blow me away they have all been changed, cropped, edited, i can say that because i have some those original digital images from the magazines of last year, however the images currently on download sites are not the same some completely removed.
one such image of jesus coming on an ass has been cropped, removing the name of the hidden name of the artist,,,, and altering a huge demon like face on the window.... has anyone else noticed this?..

I have definite proof there are lots of images with demonized signs in them - but I will not publish them here for copyright reasons, and additionally I cannot, because my computer was stolen. But yeah, of course, they are there.
Oh oh oh oh oh - there are many legitimate claims that can be made, many others that I find stupid and utterly false, and then there are these sublimal pictures claims - and they are the stupidest of them all.
When I look at the carpet, or when I look at the wall paper in the toalet, I see faces and animals and clouds and rockets and all sorts of things. Rorschak. Our mind is composed/created/evolved so as to see patterns as a means of survival or making sense of things observed,so this is just plain stupid.

IMPORTANT: JW Congregation in Britain loses case!!!!!!
by Viva la Vida infrom the ruling: .
"we note that the congregation and the charity are one and the same entity in this case, so that whilst the congregation understandably wishes to follow its religious practices, its status as a registered charity brings with it, in exchange for public recognition and tax reliefs, a requirement to maintain certain standards of behaviour.
it also brings with it the risk that, if there are concerns about its activities, these might be inquired into by the respondent.

For those of us (at least I hope there are more than just me) who are foreigners and thus neither being familiar with the British judicial system nor with its specialized terms and language - could someone provide me/us with a "Charity vs. congregation for dummies" version? -

Something a CO once said.
by cappytan in"there are only three reasons you should miss a meeting.
fever, fracture or funeral.
everything else is a sorry excuse.
-
TheOldHippie
"I remember a talk from a CO who related the experience of a couple whose child died the day of the meeting and the couple went from the hospital to the meeting that night!!!"
There might be many reasons for that, which I will not comment upon - but has the thought occurred to you that they felt that was the best place for them to receive comfort? Would it have made it better if you heard about Catholics losing a child and then seeking comfort in their church?

Memorial attendance up or down on last year?
by freddo inas per the title.
and was the one you attended at an early or late time of the evening.. any partakers?.
-
TheOldHippie
Attendance will have a slight variation according to what day in the Easter week it is observed. If at the beginning or end, numbers will be significantly up, if in the middle it will either decrease or stand still. But the trend is upwards, although in these waves. Locally, it was up, double the number of publishers, and with three partakers. -

Memorial - Most depressing holiday ever?
by nevaagain inwe - as in we jws - say that the memorial is our only holiday.back in my young days when i was still living at home, my mom would buy us (or as we got older and made our own money, make us buy) new suits for the memorial.
my mom would put on her best dress which she probably only bought for the memorial.
she would say, it is our only holiday so we should dress special for it.

Nothing special? What should it be like, then? Healings, shouting, talking in tongues, extatic people? I think contemplating on the importance of Jesus' ministry and sacrificial importance is special enough. -

Polytheism in the Book of Daniel, a late second temple religious document
by fulltimestudent inas jehovah's witnesses we committed ourselves to a blind belief in a monotheistic judaism that was automatically transmitted to a new religious organisation, started (we were taught) by jesus.. that's the premise which this thread will discuss.
i suggest that sufficient evidence is available to throw doubt on both those beliefs.
so this thread will argue (over about a week-hopefully) that:.

I think I too will go and buy myself a book, quote from it, and state that "this is the truth, because this professor says so." Stay tuned!
