Field service in Germany
by Ben131895 ini left the organization 34 years ago but are still interested how the developments are.. when i stopped working 13 years ago (i am dutch) we moved to germany, just across the border since houses were 50% cheaper than in holland and the germans are a more polite people.
we live in a little town with 20.000 people.. in holland we didn't see the witnesses too often, perhaps two times a year.. in germany (at least in my little town) i have not seen the witnesses in all these 13 years.
they are standing in the shopping center and most of the time also at the railway station with a trolly.

I lived in Germany for a couple of years, and if the Germans are more polite than the Dutch, then I am very happy I have not lived in the Netherlands! -

Why would the demons want so many of scriptures in the bible translated the same way as many of the NWT has theirs?
by wwjdnwt ini am pretty sure that most of the former jw's here already know about johannas greber the former catholic priest who translated a bible with the help of demons, the thing is that the nwt has translated many of the same scriptures the way that greber has done.
the story of greber freaks me out each time i look it up.
this topic may have already been discussed prior and if so i apologize for discussing it again.

This point has always been a source of amusement to me, because some people try to make it look as if Greber would be the main source of the NWT, as if Greber is the one they have relied upon. That is to make Greber a tiny bit too important. -

Three reasons why I may have to back.
by Crazyguy ini look back over the last two years of my life with all the experiences i have read about here and other places and these are three experiences that stand out to me.
recently in another post a girl relates her experience of being in the borg and her mom literally threw her away by giving her over to the state after she accused an elder of groping her.
two; i met the man that wrote the insight books for the borg and even though he was at the time the brians of the borgs doctines when he faded his family , brother and his kids are shunning him.

Generation Nonsense in today's WT
by Slidin Fast inabraham was part of the 9th generation as a descendent of shem.
yet, their lives overlapped by 150 years.
yep, they were of the same generation!
-

"They are really getting desperate." Not. This was not in any context with a "generation" discussion, but a reference to how Abram possibly could have heard about Jehova, since he was family and coexisted with Shem for 150 years. -

Seems the journalist must have looked at the wrong country, the number of JWs do not make any sense. -

Very Weird Experience During Recent Special Talk After Memorial
by Tenacious inhesitantly i attended this talk with my family and sat through it without batting an eye.. mentally i take myself out during the entire meeting some would describe this as daydreaming or zoning out.
whatever the case may be, for some reason this particular speaker, whom i know of but not personally, got my attention the way he would say certain phrases.
he cited some texts that directly advised the audience that faith in christ was the only way to salvation.

get upset with some of the crap they try to push down everyone's throat.
heard the awful singing
I won't usually agree with anything these maggots say
::::::::::::::::::::::
I am so disappointed with you - that you did not manage to put any more negative statements to show how tough you are, into your text. I mean, I KNOW you are tough and HAVE to show it to us all, but did you not have anything MORE negative to say?

The two elders threaten my sister again
by opusdei1972 inas i reported here in this forum, some time ago, my sister was constantly harried by two elders so as to be submitted to a judiciary committee for apostasy.
these two elders were constantly hounding her in the street when she walks to go to her job.
so she had to send them a notary letter in which she wrote that she would attend the judiciary committee only with her attorney.

Sounds very strange in my ears; in my congregation, some 7-8 have faded during the last 3-4 years, and they are neither hounded nor are their names mentioned from the platform re. disassosiation.
Different places, different practises.

More Ant-Evolution BS in this months JW Broadcast Program
by ttdtt inso at around the 46 min mark - the are talking to this guy from ukraine who was a zoologist.. he talks about how he was a staunch evolutionist (who wasn't able to prove evolution to himself, by the way).
then when he studied nature through the lens of evolution - he found that nature contradicted evolution.. his big point came when he said - "imagine emptying a box of letter blocks on a table, and the encyclopedia britannica appears, or could a computer program come by chance.
so who could dna come by chance.".

"How many books have GB men read on Biological evolution ? = 0How many books have the GB men read on the Earth's own Geological evolution ? = 0
How many books have the GB men read on Astrophysics ? = 0"
How do you know that?

The danger of thinking we know everything.
by stuckinarut2 ina thought occurred that there is a danger in thinking we know everything, or have it all figured out in life.
especially when it comes to matters of doctrine or faith.. witnesses (or at least the society as a whole) are so self-confident, so proud to be the only ones who know "the truth" about everything to do with the universe, the earth, our past and our future, that pride kicks in.
and pride is dangerous...(.and before a fall).

One area where for my part I feel this definitely is an important point, is in the field of evolution versus creation. How many program do I not watch where the evolutionists state that earlier, one did not quite understand how this or that was - but NOW we know how it is, NOW we have the full truth about it. And then, in about 20 years' time, another evolutionist will say exactly the same. I don't intend to hijack the thread, but me - I get angry when I hear about how the plants and insects and worms have figured things out and miraculously managed to overcome obstacles and have engineered new solutions whereupon the tree next door has managed to overcome this etc. NOW we know it, a decade ago we didn't.
