Correct; just because a company is named Watchtower, doesn't mean it has anything to do with THE Watch Tower - and this one definitely has not!

JW killed building a KH in Germany
by GermanXJW inyesterday, at a construction site where a new kh is to be built,a crane fell down, killed a sister and injured some others severly.
local tv reported that now police has started investigations against the crane operator.
building a kh in germany is done by voluntary workers that are not properly insured by the wts but are dependant on their own insurances.

First of all, I don't see why one should try to make jokes about a person dying, no matter what organization he or she would or not be part of.
As for insurance, nobody is allowed to enter the building sites without paying the daily insurance, which amounts to around 1$ a day. One then has full insurance - life - damage, and as said is not allowed to enter the site without it. So nobody is uninsured. -

Apart from 2, none have anything to do with your friends, Kent. As said before, there is a certain difference between Watchtower and Watch Tower, and then again between Watch Tower and THE Watch Tower.

JW and voting in index?
by mindfield inwhile checking out a questions from readers which was supposed to contain radically different viewpoints on voting in the 1999 index, i got an unpleasant surprise... it's not there!!!
in the summary of the watchtower, a questions from readers is mentioned, but the article itself is nowhere to be found!
i must note however, this was a french index... is it the same with the english ones?

Nothin' new; for years, Witnesses in venezuela, Colombia etc. have been voting, as it is mandatory; they put in a blank vote, and that's that. Being in a voting house or whatever you call it and registring as having been there, has been going on for years, man.

So all of us concerned about the environmental situation and suspecting factories of chemical waste dumping etc., and trying to do something about it at times, should move to Afghanistan and join Bin Laden, and are in fact terrorists?
I have a strong sense that the possibilities for any meaningful conversation between the two of us have vanished, unless this is some sort of a sick joke. -

So you are saying, that there are NO circumstances under which one should break the law, when we talk about environmental question? If certain factories are suspected of dumping dangerous wastes, toxic stuff etc., but deny the charges, then under NO circumstances should one enter the premises and try to find out what is the truth about it? The people pressing the "Love canal" or whatever it was called some years ago in the US/Canada border area should NO WAY do anything like that? We should all of us just patiently wait for the greedy old governments and industry lobbies to carry on their business as usual? If you are saying that, then you disappoint me. Just as you do when you all the time just HAVE to call me names in stead of just stating you disagree etc. Why this constant shouting?

What's your problem with this? I think it's just GREAT, because I have been a member of Bellona and Greenpeace and SeaSheperd for years - and now finally others are following!

Letter writing
by larc infolks,.
i have some thoughts on letters written to jws about problems in the organization.
it seems to me that many letters that i have read here are way to long and to fully docuemented.

TheOldHippie
It is always so nice to read that I am an asshole, and that the purpose of your letter-writing is to make me stuble and fall and look even more like an idiot that I previously was.
That's a REALLY nice starting point for a meaningful conversation. -

Do The Math!
by silentlambs ini just received the following email a few minutes ago, anyone care to suggest a response?.
do your math......my children are safer within the jehovah's witnesses than in any other organization......... .
if you compare the cases of child molestation and other acts with the stories of happiness and success ....the success stories will overwhelm all other negative stories........ .

1. If your child is molested go to the police first.
2. No congregation priveleges ever for a child molesters.
3. No field service for child molesters.
***********************************************************
These are self-evident points. I can only speak for "my" congregation, and if something of this kind should ever happen here, these things would be done. Reported, removal and also point 3. I think every thinking person would support these points, and I know we in this congregation would.
In the Western world, upwards of 1 out of 3 children are abused. Hence, I agree wholeheartedly on the point that children are way, way safer in the congregations than outside of them.
