I agree, ISP. And I also agree that perhaps a few millions should have been redirected from Patterson to Kingdom Halls in Malawi, Angola, Mocambique etc. No problems with agreeing to that.

JT, I was an elder for 24 years, until I resigned last year. I know the written rules as well as the unwritten ones. According to those, I shouldn't be here. But my faith is in Jehovah and Christ, not in a manmade organization, and such an organization is not my redeemer and not my go-between. I will support with all my mind and heart the "theology" parts of what the Society teaches, when it comes to God's Name, the relation between Him and His Son, the trinity, soul, hell etc. But I distance myself from chronological speculations, and from the legalism, the rules etc. that one cannot easily find basis for in the Scriptures, like birthdays, like reporting hours and using that as a basis for evaluating a person's spirituality.

I think there must be some mix-ups here. 1924, 1935 and 1940 do not appear on my list of expected dates. And Judge Rutherford did not live in the mansion after noone returned in 1939, he lived there years before that, and 1939 I find nowhere. Couln't you please quote where these dates have appeared? In the extensive list of Stafford, they don't appear either?

de rigeure for the boys bucks night.
it was all a bit of a none event, so next night he brought around drugs to my house, marijuana.

by invisible ini know i asked this absolutely yonks back, then by the name of celtic, but with so many newcomers here i thought no harm but to ask once again.. how many artists do we have here or working in art related fields including film, music, theatre, environment, gardening, sculpture, graphic design, illustration, fine art, photograpy etc etc?.

My field of art is Surviving, more specifically trying to survive while being both a believer and not-believer, Making One's Way Thru Living In Two Worlds Simultaneously - and presently I'm rather good at it, but I don't know what the future will hold out for me. Earlier, I was in doubt - but these days I'm not so sure any more .....
Hobbies? Horse riding and collecting all sorts of stuff.
Earlier? Wrote lots of stuff, and was even mentioned in a book by a literature critic, who wrote that "as long as there are people like (......) around, there is hope for the future literature of our nation." Well, I wrote and delivered a whole lot of good Sunday talks, anyway. These days, I feel like taking it all up again. I used to be devilishly good at learning new languages.

I smoked haschish (don't knwo how it's spelled in English any more ...) daily for 7 years, I smoked (!) and ate all sorts of pills, I used mescaline and LSD, I shot morphine for one year, I shot amphetamine (speed) every weekend for two years, I was a heavy drinker in the same period.
Never did I hear of anything like this after smoking pot, which was something we considered being for children, as it was so light, and not heavy enough for us tough guys. I have been chased by 10-feet tall gorillas, I've witnessed my own death, I've seen my arm be cut off in a door and grow out again, I've been mind-reading friends, I've been who knows what, but never on pot. We smoked 50 valium pills once, and it took us (my friend and I) 4 hours to walk two miles, but again, pot?
I smoked hasch a couple of years ago just to see what it was like nowadays, but all I experienced was a heavy and half-numb head; I guess one has to grow accustomed to it again. That's how it was back in the old days, it took some time before one knew what the outcome was to be. Therefore, your experience was weird.
And man, was Leslie West and Mountain one tough band to listen to ............ "Long Red" - wow!

Dungbeetle, your quotes are from 1954, 1960 and 1975. A lot of things have happened since then. Bringing up a half-century old quote about therapists using hypnosis, is a tiny bit too weak to generalize it into a group being against therapists in general.

Therapists are not from the devil, dungbeetle, please calm down. I've had a son with grave mental problems living in our house as long as we wanted to, and never did we want him to leave, in spite of knife attacks, violence and threats. These cases are tough, and I really don't think one should make them into "look how terrible the Witnesses are and what their faith do to their children" - case. You have disturbed people among the Witnesses, Catholics, Lutherans, Southern Baptists, Moslems and Buddhists and even among Socialists and Atheists. I don't quite understand what Kent is trying to achieve thru posting this at his site, if he has some morbid pleasure because a Witness was murdered, or if he wants to prove that all Witnesses destroy their children and therefore only get what is rightfully theirs.I find it sad when cases like these are made part of a campaign against the Witnesses.
