in the congregation where i grew up, the witnesses converted this 20-something young man.

he was very strange, lived in a very shady apartment, and he couldn't afford a car, so he rode his bike around the whole area, which was very strange for our rural part of the country.

according to larry, he came from quite a wealthy family in the country he was from.

so we had brother losch visiting our special assembly day which was weird in itself.

Fishing and JW's???

so i was just reading a thread and came across a completely new jw 'rule', that of not being allowed to go fishing!..

at least it's new to me as i always enjoyed fishing as did others in my old congregation.

anyone else heard of this or had this imposed on them in they're jw lives?.

i have been lurking on this site for 3 years and this is my fist post.

i would like to thank everyone for helping me wake up.

i was baptized at 24, married at 25, ms for 18 years mentally in for 24 years but started to wake up 3 years ago doing research to give public talks, and the actions of arrogant and narcissistic brothers and sisters did not help.

How sad you did not seek professional medical help in time, and did not cut off those "100 % perfectionism" thoughts of yours, and in stead allowed yourself to drift too far off. Really sad reading indeed.

The Laki eruption must have been frightening, since people all over Europe were totally unaware of what it was, of what had happened. There were not exactly any television news crews to send out, no planes or satellites - no knowledge. Must have scared the shit out of them. Just like the 1755 Lisbon earthquake and tsunami, which killed towards 100,000 and ruined every church in town, and that on a Church holiday - an event which was a landmark in European philosophy and religious thought. How could God allow such a thing to happen? People turned atheists en masse.

I have a question about these letters and also about the news-told-in-advance that appear here. And I am not in any way trying to lurk some secrets out of you people here - but how are they obtained? Do people at HQ give them to you or tell it to you because you make them believe you are 100 % in, or do they know you are not quite as in as that but still give it to you, or - well, how do you get this inside information? Once again, I am not trying to make you disclose any secrets, but just in general - how?

Again sorry to disappoint you, these are shown in the television news programs and newspaper columns whenever they take place - whenever 10 or 20 misled persons show up in front of an embassy.

For your information, Norway has a right-wing government, and during WWII was occupied by Germany like so many other countries in Europe, and thus have no more a WWII "past" than any other country, unlike Germany/Austria/Hungary/Roumania/Slovakia which were allies.
