  has absolute power corrupted the elders?

  the elders in most congregations have absolute power, even worse they act without a check to make sure their judgments are correct.even in their worse moments they are "untouchable" in their right wing views.. does anyone have examples of elder abuse and misuse of absolute power.

  bearing in mind that they have this power, not by holy spirit, raher by the congregation letting them have it.. has absolute power corrupted the elders?.

  The term “Absolute power”is very relative. I know this, an Elder has the power to either make you feel like a million bucks, wanted and used, or, by just one comment, ruin your day with a flippant remark, or ruin your “servant career” by being negative about you to the CO when meeting in private, without a chance for you to defend yourself.

  Most live in fear when dealing with elders on a societal level . “Will the party I am hosting tonight go well, or will sister so and so, drink too much and “elder uptight” will say something?” “I hope all invited guests show up for service the next day........” “Hope my tie for my talk is not too loud”
  It goes on and on..............fear “I sure hope the elders don’t find out I am posting to this board...”

  Could you see going to most JW elders at your party because all the wine is gone and we need more? However, Jesus was that approachable!

  Resignation - not that it matters at all, but ....

  i just wanted those kind-hearted, those gentle, those friendly ones of you to know that i wrote my letter of resignation as an elder yesterday, after having served in that capasity for 24 years.. those wishing to call me or any society "bastard", "sucker", "braindead" or anything, as they have before, i would ask please to refrain from that.

  other comments would be welcome.. somehow, it is the armstrong quote about "one small step for man, one giant leap for humankind" (approximately) the other way around, "one giant leap for (a) man, one hardly noticeable step for humankind".. ok, that was that.

  Well, I have been there and I know how you feel. I am sure that your KH is losing a voice of reason on the body. Their loss. However, still continue in your life to be an elder brother to all of God’s sheep and continue to good to all............

  The brothers hacked my email!

  just learned that a group of jws hacked my email over a considerable period of time, hoping to intercept "incriminating" information in an attempt to disfellowship me!.

  they printed up the emails and passed them out to other elders to "examine".

  they were certainly very, very disappointed to not find anything they could "use".. the only outgoing emails from me they obtained were those attached to incoming mail as a result of some friends hitting "respond" when they wrote back to me.. the person who got into my email account is a ministerial servant who had previously worked on my business web site and therefore had my password.. he would download my email onto his computer, miles away, and then put everything back as "unread" so nothing would be "missing", when i accessed email from my computer.

  It sure sounds like an inside job. Besides your computer programer, is there any pro/JW family members that may have access to your computer? Just trying to cover all variables!

  My Disassociation Letter - Should I post it ?

  friends,.

  i posted a question in november on whether i should da - and i got a surprising level of response - i was also swayed towards not 'playing the wt game'.. however, i feel i want closure.. please see below the letter i have just finished writing - i plan to post it later this week, but would like to know your opinions:.

  1) should i send it - yes or no.

  Greetings: I DA and I wish I did not. I now wish I could have stayed around a little longer and planted some seeds of truth. DO you have a lot of friends and family still inside?

  The letter is very good, however, a bit long. The elders will not read much more than three/four paragraphs tops. Can you get it down to that with attachments?

  Just my thoughts..........

  Evidence that the WTS Claims to be Inspired

  much evidence has been provided to demonstrate that the wts is a false prophet even though jws will say anything to deny this unpleasant fact.

  generally they act and teach explicitly that the gb speaks for god - that it is is god's sole channel of communication - but also claim that the gb is not inspired.

  that is a distinction without a difference.. this has caused you know to be on the lookout for jw teachings "channeled" to him by the slave but which are without a bible basis.

  YOYO: There was no Governing body in the first century. Read Pauls words, see what he thought of “men in authority” Gal 1:1, 10,11, 16, 17. The trouble-makers in Antioch were Jerusalem based men, so Jerusalem was the place to meet for the question on circumcision. .

  Also “it was not some small group of men with special administrative authority who meet together in secret session to make a decision. But was an assembly of elders,... with the whole congragation expressing its approval with regard to some of the decisions reached.”

  Are people getting Brainier?

  an article in the daily express today cites a study that claims the average person is getting brainier.it claims,.

  "the average child in britian today would have been hailed a genius 60 years ago".

  do you think this is true?.

  Well, we still argue over how the pyramids were built. Not much really discovered (kick ass, ground breaking stuff) since Einstein...............You need IQ to understand, translate and make use of knowledge

  The above posts are correct: Why does the WT then treat their writings as inspired? If you don’t “obey” the writings, you are disfellowshipped. However, when they have to make adjustments, then we are asked to understand. What a one way street.

  i read crisis of conscience some time ago and it had a profound effect on me.

  i just gave it to my ex-bethelite friend to read (he had already discovered the "truth" about the truth on his own).

  he's about halfway through it and is in the anger stage.

  Well when I read COC, I just thought that it was a man-made religion, no more, no less, at least they still had the doctrines right!! Can’t ask for more!!!

  However, it was Ray’s second book, “In Search of Christian Freedom”that really sealed it for me. Blood, house to house, the misuse of disfellowshipping, etc.,. The doctrines were lacking too!

  Disassociating==shunning...yes or no???

  i have had several here tell me that if try to disassociate yourself from the org that you will be subject to shunning.

  is this true?.

  i discussed this issue with the witnesses with whom i study.
