  This is a red herring. You could get disfellowshipped for posting apostate posts, however, I have never ever seen anyone disfellowshipped for witnessing on the internet.

  As an Elder, we had a person who posted at boards like this. He showed he was posting pro JW stuff. In the end, we could not stop him, however, he could not claim the time, according to the CO.

  At any rate, we should want pro Jws to post here...so they can consider all viewpoints, IMHO

  Thats why I post at a JW topic board...duh!

  Someone needs to get a life, and it is not LU2K.......

  Why go out of your way to hurt people?

  Why try to surpass the Jws in the areas of shunning, disfellowshipping and marking?

  what i was wondering is, does size really matter in a religion.

  after all jw's are one of the worlds smaller religions ... 6 million is not large!

  Good point. Franz talks extensively about the fallacy of the effect of JWs numerically. However, the Jws can point to Noah's time and the ratio of survivors compared to the non-survivors. At any rate, Ray Franz ISOCF is worth a read regarding this matter.................

  DEMONS SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME!!!!

  since most of us here are ex-jws i'm sure we all have been scared of demons at one time or another as their touted reality is a basic cornerstone of the watch tower philosophy.

  gossip and rumors dealing with demon attacks are encouraged by the society in local congregations and such stories frequently appear in watch tower publications to further strengthen the argument that demons are real and are ready at any opening to "demonize" us if we fall short of deserving "jehovah's protection" or foolishly venture beyond the protection of "jehovah's organization".. since belief in demonic beings is so widespread inside the jw community, current or ex, many have reported encounters with these minions of satan.

  i take these reports seriously, for the most part, knowing how real demons once seemed to me i can easily believe that someone with a similar jw background may think that they really are the victims of such supernatural forces.

  What hypocrisy!

  I remember getting a letter from the WT to read to the Cong seeking Doctors and Lawyers!!! If you disobeyed and went to college to be a Doctor or Lawyer, you can now write your own JW meal ticket at Brooklyn.........

  Anyone still bothered by the demons?

  hi i'm wednesday and born and raised in jw.-inactive several years.

  i have had a number of iincidents that appear to demonic've had spirit beings sit on my bed at ight and talk to me i've been literally touched by things unseen.

  now i know the jw are big on demon stuff.

  DFing the newly Reinstated? Yes !

  in my other thread an excellent question was asked: what i wonder is: can they disfellowship me for stopping the attendance immediately after my reinstatement?

  what could they do, apart from being a terrible nuisance?.

  some ex-jw choose to get reinstated so that they can have some certain family ties, and then just function with a low profile and then fade away ... but officially stay a jw for family sake.

  Wow, Amazing, Our Body of Elders came to a different conclusion. We had some persons who never showed up after getting reinstated. It was determined that Non attendance of meetings was not of itself a sign that you do not love Jehovah or his Org, but could be a sign of spiritual weakness (There was a good KM article that I gave a special needs talk on that explained this, around 1995/96.

  Reinstatement, as explained by the CO, was the end process of qualifying for an approved status, with restrictions that were removed after a period of time.

  I have never witnessed anyone who got re disfellowshipped for simply not going to meetings after being re-instated. Any one out there ever been re disfellowshipped for just non meeting attendance?

  sorry if this has been done to death, i only did a quick scan and didn't see a topic like this, so i appologize in advance if this was started someplace else.. this morning i woke up and thought about where i was last year, and the complete shock i felt at this same time last year...and i was just wondering if any of you had those same feelings this morning.. so where were you?

  i always find stories of what people were doing at the time they heard to be really interesting-please share if you'd like.

  I was at Lake Tahoe for a "work" related convention. I was at Ceasers Palace at the Crap table when the news broke.......Bloody Mary (breakfast) and a Cuban H Upmann #2 Cigar in hand.

  Then, the Floor Person looked like a long lost cousin that I had not seen in fifteen years. When he walked by, "Russell" was on his name plate...BINGO! It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.......
