If a nuke hits Washington, will your life change?
by Mindchild inas you may or may not know, the bush administration has set up a shadow government in the usa, with its memebers already securely located in underground bunkers and now we are learning that washington dc is being surrounded radiation and gamma ray detectors which would tip off the delta forces on standby that a nuclear weapon had been brought into the area.
the government concedes that they do expect a possible nuclear strike by terrorists.. while it may not come from ben ladin, there are other countries who appear to have made more progress in securing nuclear weapons by either buying them illegally or making their own.
the really bad news is that they also have much more of an incentive now to use them against the usa as our government has launched a war against their countries (i.e.

You Know: Matt. 10:11-14, Please Respond
by tfs inmatthew 10:11-14 says,.
"into whatever city or village you enter, search out who in it is deserving, and stay there until you leave.
when you are entering into the house, greet the household; and if the house is deserving, let the peace you wish it come upon it; but if it is not deserving, let the peace from you return upon you.

One more time:
YOU wrote:
“Recently, Jesus' clear disciple-making instructions at Matt. 10:11-14 and Luke 9:5...... “I maintain that Matt 10:11-14 and Luke 9:5 are not “Clear disciple-making instructions,” but only instructions on how to obtain lodging.
Let all the readers make up their minds.

"Seems to me that they went there with a purpose: to preach, heal, cast out demons, etc. and to accomplish this they needed a place to stay"
Of course, but where did they preach is the question? The JWs wrongly use the "lodging" matter to show they went from door to door to make disciples. Just not true......
All the scriptures point to the peaching work taking place at the synagogue, the market, hillsides, etc., nowhere does the scriptures state that a systematic, “door to door” work was taking place.

Ha, ha haaaa! Farkel, I love you man (as a brother). I just agree with Franz on this point. What can I do? Change my viewpoint because it is already taken? I disagree with Franz on other matters (like his take on Rev 21:).

“”Under the cover of darkness huh? Sounds like Nicodemus visiting Jesus to me. Don't worry Thi Chi, you're not Jesus “”
The reference was to his not wanting to be seen coming to my house, not that I am Jesus...........
Farkel: You are right, on paper. I still have so much affection of my ex-JW buds. When they contact me (putting their life at risk), I give them the best welcome possible.

“In saying this, Jesus is talking about the refusal to "receive" of a "witness" work, a preaching work that is carried out by the disciples of Christ? Thus, a refusal of a "witness" work, or a refusal of a "preaching" assignment, the "preaching of the kingdom of God," a "declaring of the good news" as mentioned at Luke 9:2 and Luke 9:6. “
I agian agree with Franz: "...Presenting only those parts of the text that speak of “searching out who is deserving,” and omitting the phrases that accompany those words, such as “stay there until you leave,” “stay in that house, eating and drinking the things they provide....Do not be transferring from house to house.”
Your statements convey very extraneous reasoning. You are reaching conclusions that are unsupported without some hole filling and some stretching. My viewpoint.
All the scriptures point to the peaching work taking place at the synagogue, the market, hillsides, etc., nowhere does the scriptures state that a systematic, “door to door” work was taking place.

TFS:
“”However, I notice that you quote Raymond Franz like he is God himself. He is spoken of in reverential tones by yourself.
But I must ask you, since when is RV Franz the final "authority" on all scriptural matters? Did RV Franz teach in his books, that we should quote his book, like one would quote the Bible itself? Did that come from RV Franz? (You did quote from his book, that way.)”“Subject change? Anyhow.......I just agree with Franz on this point. Who said that he was a final “authority” in this matter? I quoted his words so as not to appear that I created the viewpoint. This is information that I feel should be considered. You infer that I am wrong just by citing a published viewpoint, but I am not and it is just a diversion to the subject at hand.
You infer that my viewpoint is somehow faulty because another person holds the same viewpoint. This is, well, just rubbish. You hold the same viewpoint as the Jws on this issue (see your statement regarding Matt. 10:11-14) , who cares? If I would have paraphrased his viewpoint, I would have been accused of plagiarism and not giving credit where credit is due. Notwithstanding the above, Franz is a very eloquent writer. I could not have said it better.
To state that Franz would want persons to do their own research (speaking for Franz now? ) is reasonable, and I do research on my own. However, Franz did in fact publish his findings, to what end? Hopefully with a goal to benefit a discussion like the one we are now engaged in.
"""He is spoken of in reverential tones by yourself."""
Claims without examples are very frustrating. You may have confused “reverential” with “respect” for Franz. The fact is I would probably still be a JW if it was not for his two books. It provided the information I was lacking to see the whole picture. For that I am grateful and he has my utmost respect and I consider him very credible in these matters.
""“Jesus' clear disciple-making instructions at Matt. 10:11-14 and Luke 9:5 “""
You are just plain wrong.....
I still agree with Franz (sorry) on this point. You are misleading the readers to believe that Jesus was giving instructions on how to make disciples. “A simple reading” shows that he was giving instruction on how to obtain lodging.
If you want to continue to advocate the JW mantra on this issue, be my guest, I support the right to your viewpoints. However, I don’t agree.

Did The Generation Change Silence Apostates?
by Englishman inhere is a paragraph from the1997 august 1st.watchtower re the generation change:.
"recently, 'the faithful and discreet slave' has helped us to refine our understanding of the term 'generation' used at matthew 24:34 and of the timing of the judgment of 'the sheep' and 'the goats' mentioned at matthew 25:31-46, as well as of our view toward certain types of civilian service.
no doubt some apostates would have been delighted if many of jehovah's witnesses had stuck rigidly to the previous understanding of such subjects and refused to progress.

Wow, you have “past” truth, you have “present” truth and “future” truth! Like Franz says, the word “Truth” has become meaningless.
I really don’t mind speculation. However, if you can be disfellowshipped for not believing/teaching it, that is what chaps my hide.
