i am just wondering, because i think for me it did.
i am a woman with grown children,.
so i am coming to these things from a different stage in life than many do, but since.
Hey, this combo along with some lsd gave us such albums as Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heart's Club Band..........
elders do lie!
generally speaking, the trust factor that most rank & file jws have for their elders is very high.
like silent lambs post shows, most brothers take what the elders say as the last word in most matters.

I was at a car show last week and ran into a (once) very close JW friend (I DA' ed myself just over two years ago) who was threatened with disfellowshipping if he continued to talk to me some time back.
My friend asked if I have been encouraged by the Elder visits I was supposedly receiving on a regular basses. I responded, "I have never, ever received one visit or phone call or message in the last two years since my letter, none!"
My friend stated that when he was threatened with removal for speaking to me, he was assured that I would receive the needed attention. My friend, in fact, has been asking about me these last two years and the Elders have continued to lie to him about calling on me!
With a look of shock he exclaimed "they have all been lying to me about you!" He then stated, "I am tired of the elders using fear to get what they want from me."
Wow, I have never heard my friend talk like that. Well, we are back in touch now......it will just be a matter of time when his eyes will fully open.

if ray fanz had never left the watchtower and written his book would you be here now?.
if not, is that worrying for you?
how many here worked out it was not the truth alone without the aid of a specific book and how many needed franz's work or someone elses?.
"why has he yet to make one comment to the media other than defend WT policy? If he really is the man of ethics as he presents himself to be, why does he not see children being raped as a problem? "
I feel this viewpoint unfair to Franz. Why should he carry the JW cross for everyones experience or issues? I believe he speaks from his experience and has contributed much because of it. Also, when has he "defended WT policy" in this matter?

The idea does not exclude a God, but, may include one. In fact, there is more room for a God than you think.
Let me refer to a very interesting letter, recorded by Helen Dukas, which Einstein wrote to a child who asked him whether scientists prayed.
"I have tried to respond to your question as simply as I could. Here is my answer. Scientific research is based on the idea that everything that takes place is determined by laws of nature, and therefore this holds for the actions of people. For this reason, a research scientist will hardly be inclined to believe that events could be influenced by prayer, i.e. by a wish addressed to a supernatural Being. However, it must be admitted that our actual knowledge of these laws is only imperfect and fragmentary, so that, actually the belief in the existence of basic all-embracing laws in nature also rests on a sort of faith. All the same this faith has been largely justified so far by the success of scientific research. But, on the other hand, everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe-a spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble. In this way the pursuit of science leads to a religious feeling of a special sort, which is indeed quite different from the religiosity of someone more naive."

Well, The "God has always existed" reply is very problematic, at least in our reality of experience. However, you can use this "test" of existence with any object of any substance, not just "God." At what point in time has anything ever existed forever? Take God out of it and the same question remains, "How did it all ultimately come into existence?" An explanation of existence is reasonable, not just for a God.
Modern Physics have pointed to a space time relationship that can produce many interesting possibilities, affecting our linear concepts of what "always existed" means in relationship to our frame of reference. This thought has fascinated me and the possibilities are endless for our explanations of existence (or a God!).

funkyderek:
Good observations/ questions: and of course, beyond my ability to answer. Thats why I keep an open mind with the hope that this existence will have some form of moral worth. However, it is my current viewpoint that no one person has the answer to our existence "all wrapped up in a nice little box."
You did, however, leave out one explanation: God in relation to infinity and the Implications thereof, which can really be a part two to your first question.

Franz provided information that most Witnesses are not privy to (History, GB at work, etc.,). I could sense something was not right, but could not put my finger on it. Franz two books helped me in seeing the "big picture" and put everything into perspective. This was very, very helpful for me.
Franz second book, ISOCF, helped me to see how different viewpoints could be adopted and that many issues are not black and white, as the Jws pretend. This was helpful because, of all my years of being told that research outside the Jw dogma was wrong and unfaithful to God. Franz was a nice starting point for a very interesting journey that I have been on!

I agree with Einstein, "I cannot believe God would play dice with the universe."
A "Big Bang" of energy from where? (or from what).

Wow, everything still seems to need a creator. Where did the chemicals come from to create the virus? Fair questions for free thinkers.
