Just wanted to add my WELCOMES to all the new ones, too.
I've only been here a couple months, so I consider myself a newbie too, as everyone has said...just jump in whenever you feel comfy.

Ok Gang,
I already welcomed MoeJo, but now I feel I must speak up in defense of the poor, misunderstood fruitcake!
I tried one of those store bought fruitcakes they sell at Christmas time once, and YEGODS it was awful. But my sister is right, the one that my Mom has a recipe for is "to die for". Now, if you don't like fruit and nuts, I can still understand your aversion. But Dana does make one hell of a fruitcake following that recipe. I am too lazy to spend the time making it, so she has pity on me and usually makes an extra for me. What a sweet sister. Hoping with that plug to get another one this year.

i'm sure you've all noticed that we have grown quite a bit over the last few months and seem to get busier every week with more people joining every day.. while i do my best to read and monitor all the threads on the forum to make sure that no one causes trouble it is becoming very difficult to do this all the time.
with this in mind, i'd like to ask for some volunteers to help keep an eye on things who i will setup with some extra permissions.. i don't intend for the forum to be 'ruled over with an iron fist' or anything like that.
it would really be so that we could respond quickly if anyone started causing trouble (eg.
Simon,
I would also like to add my thanks for all the work you do on this site. It is a great place to be, and I think we do a pretty good job of self moderating. I understand the need for assistance, for trouble makers or technical difficulties, but I too am "anxious" about the introduction of moderators. Methinks it would be difficult to find people who share your open-mindedness and fairness. But if that's what you need, then good luck in your search.
I personally am not technologically proficient enough to offer my services, nor would I presume that I could be fair and just all the time. But a little financial aid I can definitely do. Keep up the good work, Simon.

i was raised a poor white child in the deep south...ok, florida, where i still am.
i was the typical slightly self righteous witness, miss goody goody, left school at 16 to pioneer, which i did for 4 years, met a guy and married him.
he had 2 kids from a previous marriage and we had 2 kids of our own.
Thank you Dave,
I will share the (((manly hug))) with Doug.
And yes, things are definitely going well now...onward and upward and all that positive, cheerful crap!
Yes, I am enjoying the hell out of this board, and I think Dana is too, so you will all be stuck, er...blessed with our presence for awhile.

"Is that a banana in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?"
from time to time exjws may face the question of whether they should do anything to cause doubts in the minds of their jw family or friends.
many argue that these people are happier where they are, inside the organization, and that becoming an "apostate" would cause too many problems to them.
in other words, perhaps "ignorance is bliss.".
Jan,
Thanks for posting that article, I am saving it. Do you know what was one of the things that finally helped me see the truth about the "truth"? Articles like this, that point out the similarities in fundamentalist religions, the "disfuckshonal" thinking (as UncleBruce says)
Once you see that the Witnesses are just another religion that is misleading their people, and certainly not God's one true religion, the rest of the shackles fall away, and you are really free!

last night in chat, just as i was about to log off and go to bed, a person unknown to me came in.
i did not recognize the name, so i introduced myself.
with me in chat was another new person, who identified him/her-self as a 19 yr old da'd person on the east coast (us).. after the initial introductions, the new person stated he/she was a therapist working with a troubled 15 yr old witness girl who wanted to quit the religion over the objections of her mother.
Wasasister,
Don't ever change dear heart
Your kindness is a tribute to the good in humanity, and I for one would try to emulate your example.
If I spend a few minutes of my time on someone who is trying to deceive me, maybe they take some perverse pleasure in it...but I would still be enriched from the experience! I believe that kindness extended always returns to you tenfold...that has been my experience in life so far. Look at the responses you get from people here...everyone appreciates your good heart.

a mexican wave.. cheerleaders.. a streaker.. ice cream / hot dog vendors.. people standing up with their fist raised high saying "yes!".
extra time.. presentation of awards.. autographs.. booing.. the audience waving their lighters as night falls.. there must be more!.
englishman.. ..... fanaticism masquerading beneath a cloak of reasoned logic.
Eman,
You are just tooooo funny. That pic of the ladies bowing....and your caption....I would bow, too.
I concur with Slayer's response.

like many of you i dedicated many years of my life searching for the "true" faith or religion.. after researching and considering religion i came to the conclusion that there is not such.
i decided to worship god in my own temple.
i hope you find yours.. the force be with you all !!!
Hi Ed
I remember you from H2O, I'm so glad you made it here! I was lusting after your boat over on the other site...now I see there is still lust in my heart.
Oh well, what's a girl to do? Just don't tell me where to find you or I might not be able to resist the temptation!
