  i have 3 sisters still in the org.

  is it still called the "org"?

  2 of them maintain no contact, one because i'm an evil apostate, the other is two faced about it(nice on the phone 2x a year, but does not let anyone know about the contact) the 3rd is pretty cool about it, we e-mail alot and i call monthly( all live 1200 miles away).

  I have been wondering about the WT's stand on the internet and why they are warning against it. My first thought was the quick access to the actual history of the org. Next, the open discussions and "independent thinking" on forums such as this. Then, I wondered how the shunning would be enforced if you were online. Now, I'm beginning to wonder about the possibility of an outright revolt over some practices such as shunning. Suppose every witness online declared "As of Feb 1, 2001, we will no longer shun anyone."?

  The GB clearly has it hands full. Perhaps the recent reorganization at HQ reflects this?

  hey all, hope you're having a great year so far.. before witnet was closed down, there was an interesting discussion regarding the fds and their failed prophecies.

  i asked a question, but unfortunately there wasn't enought time to get everyone's view.. so i'll rephrase my posts, and wait to hear from y'all.. if we are so quick to say that the fds is a false prophet because of some failed prophecies (even tho they say they don't prophecy, we all know better) then how would you explain the bible book of jonah?.

  a faithful prophet, jonah, followed (after much trial and tribulation to himself) jehovah's command to declare destruction on the city of nineveh.

  Has the GB ever described exactly HOW Jehovah inspires them with "new light"? Seems to me, if they were the FDS; they'd be open about the proceedures.

  God Active or Not?

  i am interested in the boards view on the above.

  is god actively helping any or is he dormant.

  living in the time of jesus presence/kingdom rule i have to say that i would expect a little more than i see at the moment!.

  I have to agree with my husband. Our concept is quite different from the norm. But something or someone directed my husband and I to each other.
  I don't think God is impartial. I think all people have an equal hearing.
  RHW expressed it well.
  Unfortnately I think some people are just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Hence those who have such terrible experiences in their lives. There is also the matter of life choices affecting our direction.

  i have developed a deep love of celtic music.

  i listen to clannad, enya, loreena mckennitt, natalie mcmaster, and capercaillie.. i have also discovered 'celtic rock' when i went to the scottish festival in pleasanton ca last year.

  seven nations was playing modern rock music with fiddles and bagpipes.

  sorry if this topic has already been posted.. looking at size of the universe i cannot belive that we are the only life in it.

  why would god create this enormous universe and then only use one minute planet?.

  does anyone have any thoughts?.

  I have always thought this to be a possibility.
  I don't think there is anything wrong with us. We may just be a newer life form.
  Since I have started questioning, the thought has crossed my mind that this could be a possible explanation for the "paranormal" occurences around us.

  It would take a long, long time to explain my concept of God since it is completely foreign to any organized religion. But to answer it question: yes, I think God is active. I also believe He's greatly misunderstood. I think Redhorse has the view that most closely fits my definition of God: an external force.

  this subject was discussed in the 1. feb.01 wt.

  it is an interesting expression, tunnel of doubts as if several doubts merge to produce an overall tunnel from which it could be difficult to emerge.

  If a 2/3 majority of the GB has doubts, it's called "New Light". If one man on the GB has doubts, it's called "apostasy".

  "The section ends with the following ‘For example, we might ponder on the several accounts that describe Jehovah in his heavenly court. These leave no room for doubt that Jehovah does have a heavenly organization supporting his servants in the worldwide educational work today."

  Clearly, the only JW's allowed the luxury of doubts are those on the GB.
